Upper-face masks, anyone?
Does anyone else get really annoyed at the lack of masks that cover the upper face or is it just me? I mean, there are literally dozens of armours that cover the lower face, and many of them are spectacular but for the life of me I can't find any decent masks that only cover the upper face. I've tried modding one myself but it just hasn't seemed to work so far. I think it doesn't seem right, having a full-face or lower-face mask being a vampire.

Not sure that will be good for you but check that:

Thanks, Brassqund. It's an interesting mod. I'll try it out.

Theres one that leaves guards helmets open so you can see their faces, can't remember the name though

full face helmets often replace the entire head rather than an overlay which is probably why half face helmets aren't common, its harder to model

@Zefram That's good to know. As I said in the question, I was trying to make my own but I've never used 3D modellers before now and it's a lot harder than I realised it was. I'm still trying but I was attempting to pull the head meshes out of Skyrim to model it around and it didn't work. All I'm looking for (or trying to make) is a mask - it doesn't have to be armoured. Having the guards with full-face helmets isn't a problem with me: I quite like it as-is. I just want a player-only half face mask.

Did you try any tutorials? There are ones on armours, not sure about just helmets. 3d modelling software is a whole different ballgame, like learning the CK or Photoshop all over again. Its a lot of work and what you're attempting would probably only be attempted by seasoned modellers.

@Zefram Ha! True. I'm trying to use Blender, but as you say it's a lot of work. It's probably made more difficult by the fact that I'm not entirely sure how to use the CK either! I'll try to look for some tutorial on armours. Maybe it'll help me understand how making meshes and the like works.

There's this, for Dragon Priest masks: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/17707/? They do cover part of the lower face, too, though.

@Gnewna Yeah, I'm looking for something like that, but maybe not a Dragon priest mask? Something I can enchant myself. Thanks, though! It's a good-looking mod.

I believe the one Zefram is talking about is the immersive armor mod.
Spyder Aug 6, 2014 @ 3:49am
@ Evil Overlord I've already got that. And it's a great mod - but it's not got any upper face masks, just alternate helmets which I can't wear with hoods. Have you seen the Mask of Blades mod on Nexus? I really like that, but it's a full-face mask and I often play as a vampire. Hence why I'm looking for help. Thanks for taking the time to comment, though.

I was just putting a name to the mod Zefram mentioned that gave the guards open faced helms incase anyone was curious about it.

Well there is this... if you are into completely breaking immersion:

@ Aeon Yeah, this is why I was trying to make my own. I'm not a fan of the Batman masks, though they cover the upper faces. I was thinking more of something that only covered the top front half of the face, and left the rest uncovered, so I can put hoods over it and stuff.

Hm... Happened to stumble over this:

Basically blindfolds.

Also if you are into Dwemer stuff

@Aeon Yeah, those are good. They're more like what I'm looking for, but I guess to get exactly what I want I'm just going to have to make my own. I know what I want it to look like, just not sure how to do it. I'd post a picture showing what I want the end product to look like (with better textures on the end product, obviously) but I don't know how to do that. :P
