For me it didn't enhance immersion.... it broke it

A lite version however would appear to be necessary - thanks for warning me off what appears to be a somewhat over-zealous mod.
It's not excessive at all unless you try to do all their dialogue at once. Talk to them again every time you visit the inn
However, there might indeed be an issue if too many quests start at once, or if you meet too many quest-related NPCs. Especially since the quests may be triggered by seemingly unrelated dialogue lines, or simply through passing by a NPC. Those entries will then clutter up the log, because more often than not, the quests won't fit my current character.
