Did you try to verify your files and re-install the game? The only reason it would uninstall is if it were not a legit legal copy of the game. If Steam sees it as a pirated or otherwise illegitimate game, it will uninstall it and attempt to re-install it under your profile. If Steam does not recognize that you own a registered copy, it won't install it at all. I only say this because one of my neighbor's kids tried doing this and Steam rejected the install because it said the game he installed was not an official copy.

Now, I'm not accusing you of being a pirate, but I am saying that if you did not actually purchase the game, Steam would likely discover this on any subsequent updates and attempt a re-install, which won't happen because of a bogus game I.D. This will also happen if you attempt to use a copy of the game that is already registered to someone else. Someone else will probably say that I am way off here, but I only know what I have observed first-hand. You could ask Steam, but you could be on Medicare before getting any response from them.:steamfacepalm:
