Nemesis does the same that FINIS does and it works much better too even if it says you need FINIS you can ignore that it will NOT break your game

I still use FNIS. Yes, I know its no longer supported, but Nemesis doesn't support werewolf mods, and so I have to use FNIS just for werewolves. It doesn't break anything, luckily. Besides, on LE mods made in 2012 will stun run fine (at least, as well as they originally did), so I'm not scared of old files that aren't getting updated anymore. This isn't SE where mods outright won't work if they were made more than a few months away from w/e version you're running.

As for this sidestep issue, how about disabling the step animation mod before running FNIS, then re-enabling it so it overrides w/e FNIS generated? That's what I would try in this situation.

If you disable an animation mod, and run FNIS, and then re-enable the animation mod without running FNIS, you will get the famous T-Pose. FNIS must be run every time you disable an animation mod, and every time you enable one. The same applies for Nemesis, as well.
