Unable to purchase property

Hey everyone, I'm been playing this game for literally forever but this is my first time actually purchasing the house in Riften and I've completed the necessary quests to do it and I have the 8000 gold required but whenever I talk to the steward to buy it it's only give me the option of saying "On second thought, I'll wait a bit longer to decide" is this a glitch or something,is there a way to fix it?

Sounds like a glitch..... Do you have mods?
if so post your load order.

otherwise all anyone can suggest is try an older save or a new game and see if it persists...

Have your mods been sorted with LOOT?

The mod author does not know if this is compatible with other home mods. It is also very old. I would not use it.

I would also recommend you get a mod manager such as Vortex or Mod Organizer 2 and get your mods from Nexusmods. It is well known the Skyrim Workshop is permanently broken and has been for over 5 years.

If you have all the DLC you should absolutely install the Unofficial Patch. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/71214

Yes, I already use vortex and I only use specific workshop mods which so far haven't failed me, I actually seem to find that most of the mods I get from nexus break my game more than the workshop mods, also i had already tried uninstalling the sell homes one and it still wouldn't let me buy it, what I have thought might be the problem is that literally all my money at that type except for one gold coin was stolen xD so I'm trying to accumulate 8000 legit gold and then try buying it.

In the case of the Unofficial Patch you should make an exception to your no-nexus rule. With more than 2 million unique downloads you can safely consider it adequately tested. The only reason the English version isn't in the Workshop is Arthmoor doesn't want to maintain multiple dl locations.

I still use Nexus mods but even then I don't have the dlc's so I wouldn't be able to download that

Ah, thank you for clarifying. The individual patches used to be available elsewhere on the web, but are known to be corrupted (incorrect file sizes--malware anybody?)

That's the conclusion of the people who make the patch, that it is probably infected with malware....

Yea, I'm just hoping that I am right with the whole, it wasn't working because the steward can't accept 99% of the gold being stolen xD

If you'd like to test that, before you go out and make gold, make a save then use the console command player.additem f 8000, to give yourself 8k legit gold. See if he takes it. If he does, reload the save and you know you can get the house when you have 8k legit gold on you.

Yea, I already tested it and it didn't work, I've just put it down to the fact that it's because I'm playing the original skyrim and not the remastered version and back then there was a well known glitch with the riften mission to become the thane and get the house

Sadly, I don't have the money to spare for just the special edition, especially nowadays
