Can't finish a Rescue Quest, Kill the Master Vampire...
...in Sunderstone Gorge. Cleaned out all hostiles except the Vampire when I got to the stone alter. The location Arrow points downward but there's no hatch or other way to get under the floor. The Map says the Gorge is cleared but there's no arrow pointing back to Whiterun where I got the quest.

I've searched the Skyrim discussion list and wikis. The only solultions were to open a previous save & do over or console mission complete, the latter "solution" warned that the forced quest complete could mess things up farther into the game. I save often. Those flame mages & other acolyte mages were pretty tough. I'd prefer not to do it over. I got a lot of good loot.

Anyone know how to fix this? TIA.

Fast question. Have you got the stone from that cave?
If not check the place where it is.. And that place is down.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Sunderstone_Gorge
And do you have any of the Unofficial patches?

OneMug Oct 30, 2016 @ 11:27pm
Uncle64...yesterday I picked up the Stone of Barenziah from the embalming table, if that's the one you mean. I put it in my inventory. Was I supposed to "activate" it somehow? I already had 4 in my inventory. IIRC, yesterday my inventory showed 5 stones all together on one line.

I have all 4 DLCs. The only mod I have is SKYUI which I d/l and installed just today! Now in my inventory I have the 4 stones on one line and one other on a separate line. I cannot activate the single stone (probably because it's a quest item). How does it work?

I clicked on your uesp link and read through to the end but it didn't say anything about a Barenziah stone or how to get to the Master Vampire.

Uncle64 Oct 31, 2016 @ 2:58am
´That stones are connected to one quest mayor quest.

You should install that patch since it fixes so many things so you cant list it on one page.

Yes, I have to get high enough in the Thieves Guild and then find 24 of the gems in one quest. So far I have 4 of them. The 5th gem I picked up in the Sunderstone Gorge is separate in my inventory from the 4 stones and I can't "use" it because the game says it's part of the quest. How do I use the gem I picked up in the Gorge? Is there a socket I have to put it in? If so, where would that be?

And I have installed the only one "patch" the SKYUI patch which does make the sorting of all of my inventory's junk a lot easier.

So, how do I get access to the Mage Vampire so I can complete the rescue quest? The arrow points down under the surface of the enbalming area. I can't figure out how to get there.

Not sure, it can be that he/she have glitched out and are outside the cave.
Try this.
Make one manuall save that you can go back to.

Open console and typ tcl. Then you can go throu walls and floor. Check if he is under the floor. That can happen. Dont forget to write tcl after you have checked. Make sure that you dont klick on anything when you are inside console.

Thanks for the suggestions. Opened an earlier save, used tcl, moved through the walls and got into the room the quest airrow was pointing at but no one was in it and I couldn't see a door or ramp entrance or exit. Moved back to the play area and turned tcl on. Went out in front of the gorge and the only ones I could see were the dead Master Mage I killed before I entered the gorge and the live huntress over at the campfire.

Any other possible solutions? TIA
Uncle64 Oct 31, 2016 @ 10:25pm
What is the name of the quest?
Is it this one?

No it's one of those random radiant quests to rescue various kidnapped NPCs. I've done about 5 already and 2 glitched like this one. One got solved by going back to a earlier save. The other one I couldn't fix...like this one. Here's a link that shows the genre:
http://www.uesp.net/w/index.php?title=Special%3ASearch&search=Kill+the+Master+Vampire&button=

Or type in the UESP's search field "Kill Master Vampire" and get another batch of incomplete hits that don't quite match.

The details of my current problem:
After I obtained the Dark Star, I went to Whiterun to sell/stash items and visit my wife Ysolda. When I tried to speak to her, she immediately said, "I knew you'd come to save me", (huh?) the Kill the Master Vampire was added to my quests. I cleared the Gorge and got stuck not being able to access the chamber. Tried all the stuff in the thread above. Went back to Whiterun and Ysolda is no where to be found. So she and the Master Vampire have glitched out of the quest.

I'd ignore the quest and play on but I'd like to get my NPC wife back if possible. Otherwise, I'll just have to slog on with other quests. If I go back to where I didn't have the quest, I'll never be able to talk to my wife again without getting the quest. Shees'

I had the same thing happen to me on one of Aela's revenge quests after Skjor was killed. I had to kill the Silver Hand leader in Sunderstone Gorge but after killing everyone in the cave the quest arrow just pointed to the floor and I could find no way to gain entrance to wherever the hell he was. Finally had to go back to a previous a few times before I got a different objective.

Anyone know the quest ID for my rescue: Kill Master Vampire? I have found a console way to complete quests "without starting from zero". You can change the quests stages, for example: ~ "SetStage MQ105 50" <--that's stage # 50 of how many there are.

I can't find the Ysolda Rescue quest ID in the UESP.NET web pages. It says there are 200+ variations on "rescue" of (somebody) from (a bad NPC) at (at a location) quests. UESP gives some examples but I can't find the one that has Ysolda's rescue in Sunderstone Gorge. Little help here? TIA.

yes there are many quest like that.
I was thinking that you could use one console command to get by the quest.

About Ysolda is she have refid 0001A69A Basid 00013BAB
OneMug Nov 3, 2016 @ 10:40pm
What I need now to complete my Rescue quest is the QUEST ID which has these three elements:
1. The quest giver: Ysolda
2. the abductor, Master Vampire
3. and the location, the Sunderstone Gorge. What is the quest ID for this one?

The UESP at this link http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Rescue_Mission shows this:
1. quest giver: Skjor or Vilkas
2. (not specified)
3. location: Whiterun, Jorrvaskr
This quest's ID is "cr08" which I put into the console typing in "player.sqs cr08". This gave me a ladder of quest stages 1, 2, 5, 10 20, etc. I typed in "SetStage cr08 2", then 5, then 10, etc. to the end.
Some of those stages had no effect but some completed the cr08 quests that I didn't even have in my game quest queue.

So, could a developer rep, or the moderator of this thread, or a player who has completed their quest as shown above (esp. the multiple, "radiant" quests shown in UESP web site) give me the quest ID for Ysolda, Master Vampire, and Sunderstone Gorge quest? I would be most grateful.
Uncle64 Nov 3, 2016 @ 10:45pm
Dont think she have one quest id. Since that quest is radiant, it can be almost any npc that get abducted.
Clever Monkey Nov 4, 2016 @ 9:58am
there are things you can do. I would do option 1 followed by 2 and waiting elsewhere before trying other things.
1. use the tcl command and look under the floor
2. go some where and wait 30+ days for the cell to reset or force the cell to reset with
resetinterior <cellid>
Reset an entire cell. This command will reset an entire dungeon or location to default, including monsters, traps, chests and loot. E.g., ResetInterior Stillborncave01 or ResetInterior 00015206 would reset the dungeon Stillborn Cave to default; all monsters, traps, and loot would be respawned. If you reset a cell you have just been to, you'll need to use pcb command (purge cell buffer) as well, or the game will reload the buffered version of the cell, with all the modifications you've made to it. Both editorID and formID are acceptable in this command. Using this command in player homes appears to reset the furnishings without clearing the contents of initially empty containers, however, all weapon racks and cases will be empty and mannequins will need to have their inventories removed and replaced. (viz., the bedroom chest)
or in this case
resetinterior SunderstoneGorge01

I suggest using he next command to help identify which quests are active and the stage you are on
sqt
List quest ids and targets
List all active quest IDs and their targets. Useful for finding the "questID" parameter for targeted quest commands such as movetoqt <QuestID>
is it possible his is the quest http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Rescue
DLC1RH06 see the bugs section. sure seems like it. you might look into the unofficial patches or USLEEP to help with further issues if you do not use it already.

from there you have other avenues. such as
movetoqt <quest ID>
Move to quest target
Example: movetoqt da01. Using this code will instantly teleport you to the target (i.e., the marker on the map) of the quest. It does not advance the quest in and of itself, but may bring you into a situation which might immediately do so. It takes you to the ultimate current target of the quest in its respective cell - so it doesn't just take you to the next doorway you need to go through. It doesn't skip over to the final stage of the quest, either - you are delivered to the target of the current stage of the quest. Use caution, as you will be placed right on top of or as close to the current marker as possible, which may position you in the middle of a group of enemies, or on top of a trapdoor, etc. See the main index of Quests for the quest ID codes.

I do have to ask if you had cleared the cave before getting the quest to save her?
It is a known issue when clearing a dungeon and then getting a quest there things will glitch. Either way her telling you she needs help was a glitch.

you could try moving to her if the above is not available. moving her to you is not really a good option as you will still need to deal with her abductor and would probably glitch things even further. although you may need to move her if consoling quest stages.
prid <RefId>
Pick reference by ID Select an existing copy of an object/creature/NPC using its reference FormID (the one associated with that particular placed object). All subsequent targeted commands will use this object as the target. This is the same as clicking on the object in the console, but can be used even if the object is invisible or in a different area. Shorthand for PickReferenceID

and then move to her

Clever Monkey, thank you for your time and effort. I have been away from my computer for 2 days. Will try your suggestions. For now I'll answer your questions & comment:

I hadn't cleared Sunderstone Gorge before I got the Ysolda rescue quest. It wasn't on my map until I got the quest.

Before you suggested it, I did use the tcl console command and got into the room below the quest arrow pointing down to the Master Vampire's lair. There were no NPCs in that space and, even tho' I lit the room up, I could not see any entrance/exit.

I tried yesterday to add you as a friend, got onto your profile page but could find the way to become your friend. And for a while, I couldn't access my past postings link in the discussion page OR I couldn't reply. That window didn't show up at the bottom of this thread. Just now they both showed up. What the hell is going on?

Anyway, thanks again.
