Dwarven armor (superior) = steel plate armor (fine) !! ???
I dont have the advanced armor perk (steel plate armor smithing)
and improved a steel armor set to 'fine' and the armor rating is 232 (full set)

Now i got the dwarven smithing perk
and i created full set of dwarven armor and improved it to 'superior' but still my armor rating is 232 (full set)

The individual armor stats of dwarven and steel plate is pretty close.. little up n down which adds up to same 232 armor rating ..

According to wikia -
dwarven - base armor - 104 (set)
steel plate - base armor - 87 (set)

So the dwarven armor should be stronger right ? Atleast the superior one compared to the fine steel plate ?..

Can someone explain why its not ?
Sorry if this is a noob question :p
ill add some extra details in the comments

Level 27
smithing - 32
heavy armor - 60
with 2 perks -
juggernaut - 3/5 -increase armor rating by 60%

Well fitted - 25% bonus if wearing all heavy armor

Do you have Steel Smithing perk?
koomah Oct 29, 2016 @ 4:16am
If so then it doubles the effectiveness of upgraded steel items.

At that level I don't think you'd be able to get the Dwarven Smithing perk. If you get the Dwarven Smithing perk and upgrade it then your Dwarven Armor would provide more defense than Steel Plate.

Oh, my bad. I misread Steel Armor as Steel Plate. So yes Steel Smithing affects Steel armor but not Steel Plate. Hope that cleared up any confusion.

Are you sure you are wearing Dwarven and not Elven? I get those two mixed up sometimes.

Actually, I just found out that the armor rating they display on the wiki is incorrect.
koomah Oct 29, 2016 @ 4:33am
Dwarven armor has 78 base armor rating I believe and Steel Plate has 87.
