Legacy of the Dragonborn Stability? (Answered)
4 years of playing Skyrim and I've actually never gotten around to using this mod. I've heard it was absolutely fantastic, some even say it's a must-have, but I just... never installed it.

So now I've started a new playthrough rather recently and I've made some good progress in it. However, I'd like this playthrough to be as different from my last one as possible and this mod seems like a good fit. HOWEVER...

The mod page does warn that it uses a "ton of scripts", but most of them aren't running all the time. But I'm still skeptical on whether or not I should install it for stability purposes.

TL:DR: I'll get to the point. If anyone here has a relatively heavily modded Skyrim as I do and this mod is included in your load order, is your Skyrim still pretty stable? (talking about Oldrim, specifically)

I also know that Legacy of the Dragonborn raises the string count in your save (if anyone is aware of what I'm talking about), but apparently Crash Fixes renders that pretty much irrelevant and I do have that installed.

All in all, I'm just wondering if I'm just overthinking this or if installing a mod apparently this large can ruin heavily modded playthroughs. Thanks for reading.

EDIT: Also, since ever since Wyrmstooth got taken down, a mod I unfortunately never got to play, I've decided to start hoarding mods while I can still get them. Mods I might use in the future.

added legacy of the dragonborn to the ultimate skyrim modlist by belmont boy, stable as before
the only thing ever happened was a crash upon entering an area where legacy of the dragonborn and some other mod conflicted, it was fixed by waiting 24hrs ingame

Legacy of the Dragonborn is absolutely stable. And literally no one has a more heavily modded Skyrim than I do.

I've had no issues with Legacy either, I don't have anything like as heavily modded a game as smr, but I've had at least one 100+ hour save with Legacy alongside stuff like Frostfall, Vilja, Inigo, Convenient Horses, etc with no noticeable issues. It's generally regarded as a very well made mod, I would say, and I love it a lot (even though I'm not what you'd call a completionist by nature). I'm just playtesting a new modlist built around it, in fact.

Alrighty, well thanks, all of you! I'll be downloading it today, then. See what all the fuss is about. :D

I can't remember if I played Legacy on classic Skyrim. Nevertheless, it's a lovely mod which I consider must have. I don't know of any other mod that provides displays for named pieces and advances its own story for expanding the museum collection.
I have a pretty heavily modded game, with Legacy included, and my game is pretty stable. Well over 350 mods, but I have merged all the armor and weapons into one, and merged a bunch of patches together. That being said, a properly configured SKSE is needed, cause Skyrim is ♥♥♥♥ for handling memory, ENB boost, and I have Crash Fixes installed as well.

I'm guessing you can't (or rather shouldn't) merge armor and weapon mods in the middle of a playthrough, can you?

No - merges should only be made at the start (before the individual mods have been loaded into a save). Since the .esps would no longer be active, and the Form IDs all get renumbered, it is basically the same as removing all those merged mods from your game.

Alright, guess I'll look into that on my next playthrough.
