For a related problem (and forgive me if I am wrong), it seems as if your Steam/Skyrim installation is in C:\Programs (x86). Many of the modding tools and apps for Bethesda games do not work properly if that is where your game is installed because of windows security. The FNIS modpage specifically warns against trying to use the tool if Skyrim is in that location. To avoid certain avoidable problems, consider moving your Steam and Games to some other location outside of Programs (x86). It is perfectly safe to do that--here is how Steam tells you to do it. https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7418-YUBN-8129&l=
Beyond that, I would use the Gamerpoet video on the modpage to doublecheck that you installed and configured the tool correctly. His video is about the best set of instructions available.
Wrong path. Do the following.
- Uninstall FNIS from MO2 and remove the shortcut.
- Install FNIS through MO2 like any other mod.
- Go to RIGHT hand panel DATA tab.
- Browse to folder called tools\GenerateFNIS_for_Users from the tree.
- Right click GenerateFNISforUsers.exe and select option to add it as MO executable.
FNIS will now appear as MO2 executable in it's dropdown list. You can run it from there, with correct path.
This is not an issue with FNIS. All modlike applications that are installed through MO2 act in similar way. This includes BodySlide as well.
Standalone applications (TES5Edit, WryeBash etc.) are not installed through MO2. Install them to their own folders and use <Edit...> option from MO2 application list to browse to binary, which will create a tool link to application with correct path.
FNIS is not complex. People just insist installing it to wrong folders, despite how clearly Fore explains where to install it in description page.
I do get that MO2 users may get confused at first with how mod-like tools are managed with the manager. I hope this explanation cleared it out.
OMG YOU FIXED IT THANK YOU!!!!!
Have fun. :)
Hey, I just found this 2 years later and I wanted to say that you are lifesaver.
Happy Holidays!
Hey, I have done all of this, but when I run FNIS it just locks as usual, and then unlocks and does not run, baby ides?
Could be restrictions caused either by Windows or your anti virus application. It sounds like FNIS is being blocked. This is especially common, if games and tools are installed in to Program Files.
