Folgunthur floor gate puzzle

I reached this part of the game but have not seen any clues as to what the combination to the puzzle is(??) Any pointers??

The first room provides the solution. Mirror these symbols to the rotating pillars in the second room.

I must be missing something here as I went back to the first room in the dungeon and there were four symbols there but only three in the puzzle room linked to the grate(??)

Stand on the floor grate and face the two chairs. There is a room on the left and a room on the right. The room on the right has three symbols, the room on the left has three pillars. Match them up.

I actually managed to open it just by randomly turning them after getting annoyed. :)

You could just hit that Shift-Tab and then go to the unofficial wiki instead of getting annoyed.
