Infinite/Radiant Quests
Hi guys, so ive always readed the game has infinite quests thanks to the "radiant quest system"... but how does that work? i mean for example after the brotherhood storyline, you get "infinite" contracts, but heres the deal: there are only like 7 targets in total that get repeated over and over again! yes...you can kill them infinitely but sooner rather than later you'll see everything theres to see about those contracts. same goes for the companions, thieves guild etc.
so, am i missing something? because the radiant thing was heavily advertised and so far, im disappointed. thank you!

Radiant quests trigger when a certain condition has been met. That can be stat related or quest related. Some of the simpler ones are infinite fetch- or extermination quests, like you're doing now. Others are one-offs. The goals and locations are so-called random, but after a while they revert to old ones, like you mentioned. It is just the implementation of these random variables that set it apart from a standard quest.
They could have been called 'conditional quests' instead to avoid confusion with the Radiant AI system, which is a major selling point for the ES/FO series from Oblivion onward (according to Todd Howard).

There are an infinite number of contracts, not an infinite number of stories associated with those contracts.

ah i see! yea, i was under the impression that the quests were procedurally generated in some way. then again, there are a lot of quests as it is, please dont take my post as complaining...even tho i said i was disappointed xD love the game

Complain away. I don't mind it, I applaud it.
Skyrim gets too much good press for everything it does "wrong".
