I have 154 Saves, the save 151 is a file .ESS and it shows on the game, and the saves 152-154 don't show up in the Load section.
This might also happen from the save folder be read only but that isn't the case for nearly 90% of the player base. Even if you have the folder read only and are Administrator it will still save since you have permissions to bypass.
There isn't anything you can really do about the tmp files as they aren't able to be changed to ess and loaded without an infinite load screen. I can still find out more though.
The game folder being read only is a possibility only if you save again and it is still .tmp but you have enough space left. Then you might would look into permissions of the folder. You said you saved and was as .ess after having more space.
Don't get rid of the saves though as I might find a way to get them usable. But if not then you sadly would do that 4 hours over or quest you did apart from the Soul Cairn.
Since it is an unfinished save file with maybe no more than 200kb where as a full skyrim ess save is around 5mb. You'd be missing your character information and location cell stats. With no luck of finding out how to fix this or any other information you would have to load a previous save and redo your progress that wasn't saved.
