Is it safe to remove the Apocalypse spells mod after creating a save file?
Specifically, can I remove the Workshop mod files and then install the Nexus mod files instead?

Will this cause any issues? I haven't actually bought or used any of the Apocalypse spells yet, if that matters.

Thanks.

Well, make a backup just to be sure. Make sure it is the exact same mod, same version, same name. Remove the mod, don´t start up the game, install the nexus one and then start it up. See if it says stuff has been removed or is loading in a new mod. If nothing is happening then it should literally be the same mod. If it does alter things, go back to your previous mod state and play like that cause removing mods mid way is pretty bad.

Well, it won't be exactly the same name, which is part of the reason I want to do it. The one I have currently is called "Apocalypse - Spell Package (Workshop)" and the one from Nexus is called "Apocalypse - Spell Package."

The reason for wanting to switch them is that the Nexus version has an add-on file that adds an extra spell I want (water walking), but when I try to use just the add-on with the Workshop version, it crashes. I assume this is because the add-on file is looking for the latter file above, and not the former one that contains "(Workshop)" in the file name.

Yeah, if you're going to uninstall the old one and then install the new one, the old one will still be baked into your safe file and on top of that you'll have the new one. Maybe it will do nothing, maybe it will screw up your entire game, personally i would not take the risk. Waterwalking is something you most likely will use... once or twice for fun, after that there is no use for it. You can just as well take some of those water walking potions and duplicate them and have the same effect.

It would be the name of the .esp/.esm that is important to remain consistent but I assume that that is also what you are referring to. Crazy theory but you might be able to bridge that gap with TES5Edit but I am not entirely sure about that. Someone else may be able to give you a thurough plan about what needs to be tweaked. Obviously if you are deciding between using the addon and original mod from either source then you SHOULD remain consistent. Use both from either source that HAS both in the first place.
