Kill Bandit Leader....reward? Bugged?

Thought I completed miscillaneous quest "Kill Bandit Leader at Halted Stream Camp"; went there (with my housecarl, who killed a few) and killed everone there. But no indication on journal that quest is complete and "go to X to claim reward" . Cant even remember who gave me the quest in 1st place. Anyone know? thanks...

Did you clear the camp before accepting the mission? If so, you'll have to either wait until the leader respawns, reload from before taking the mission, or reload from before clearing the camp.

As for where you got it, it was either the Whiterun steward or the innkeeper of the Bannered Mare.

Yeah, I once cleared out Halted Stream when Amren asked me to retrieve his family sword from there. My first Companions quest--which may well be where you got it, although it could have been a bounty from a Steward or Inkeeper--was to kill the Bandit Leader there. A new one did spawn in, but the quest did not update. Probably not the best idea, but I used the console to advance the quest stage. Better idea would be to take Mr Monday's advice and wait or try again.

Guys, sorry my bad on this one. There is a bug here, but its in my own head! I cleared the above ground fort, but didnt realize the rest of the bandits were in the tunnel below. After finishing off the leader below, quest triggered normally.
