I was having a similar problem for a while. I don't know if it's worth anything to you that I'm replying now or if it helps, but I hope someone can use this information. I figured out that this mod is one that makes you find stuff out on your own without quest markers or intricate instructions and directions. I was trying to figure out what I needed to fix the small device on Beredalmo's desk and so I read through his journal once again to see if there was anything I was missing. Sure enough, at the end of the journal Beredalmo mentions that he had a "dwemer gear" and a "gem" to help the machine work. If you have the modified centurion core and the intact element from the quest, you will also need a dwemer gear and a soul gem (I think any regular soul gem will do) in your inventory to be able to fix the device. After you fix the device, there is a very small button on the front of the device that you need to push to continue. I don't want to spoil the rest for you (albeit there isn't very much left) so I'll let you discover it :) I hope this helps!
