I want to kill Farkas but he won't die

I've completed the entire companion's questline including purity, so he should be able to die. I'm married to him and i want to remarry but i can't if he's still alive. I've tried killing him and he just keeps getting back up. is there any way I can fix this?

Really? After so many hours i also didn't know that.. tho i never attempted to kill my spouse.
Guess you are still married even if its a corpse.

Apparently widows do not remarry in (vanilla) Skyrim. The marriage state is not reversed, even if death script for spouse did run.

You can't re-marry unless you use console commands or a mod. CC is the easiest. It allows you to reset the marriage quest stages. When completed you will no longer be married to your previous spouse. The only weird effects is that people you already killed may show up at your next wedding. Also, enemies may show up and start fighting with you while you are standing at the altar. However, these effects are random and don't happen all the time. You cannot have multiple spouses. Here are the commands to reset the marriage sequence:

removefac 51596
player.removefac c6472
resetquest 74793
resetquest 21382
setstage 74793 10

That's it. Don your Amulet of Mara and get another spouse. If you want to marry someone not on the marriage list, open the console and target the NPC (zoomed in with reference ID showing). Now type the following:

setrelationshiprank player 2 (or 4 )
addfac 19809 1

Allow the NPC to conduct their normal idle sequences for 1 to 3 days. Then they should respond to your Amulet of Mara. But be forewarned, this doesn't work on all NPCs. Good luck to you. My character has been married fourteen times. Be sure to save manually after the marriage, otherwise you may lose your new spouse.
