Merchants with lots of cash ?
Hi Folks,
So, I'm accumulating lots of crap and am always overweight. I'm stuggling to find merchants with enough cash to buy my stuff these days.

Specifically I have 4 x Staff of Paralysis, that are valued at > $3k ea. Obviously they will only sell for a fraction of that, but these days it seem most merchants max out at ~ $750 which doesnt help me offload more valued items.

Are there any tips to get merchants to cash up ? I've tried roaming around all the towns, but seems no-one has much money.

Sell them, drop them, give them away to your followers, dont horde stuff, you will end up whit more gold than you can ever use in the game.
And you will get bunked whit stuff so you cant move.

Once you've got your speechcraft high enough, you can take perks to boost merchant gold considerably. Speechcraft can be increased by winning persuasion checks, but mostly it goes up more by value of stuff you sell. The useful / broken part is that even if the merchant can't afford the item, the value still counts, so long as you're selling not giving away ;)

I have Yeti's Merchant Money Mod that give merchants lot of money. And you can "restart" him / her by quick save, attack Merchant, and quickload. Check items to sale after this, may be different.
go up to any merchant and use "`" left of 1 and up from tab, click on the merchant, type in: additem f 999999999

and now he has basically infinite money so u can sell to him whatever

Do not do this!

From http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Merchants (Bugs section):
"Rarely, when you sell items to a merchant, you do not receive any gold, only Speech experience. This glitch is more likely to trigger if you buy a lot of items from the merchant before selling your goods, mostly from the apparel tab. This occurs when the vendor's gold goes above 32767 which is above the 2-byte limit."

So if the merchant gold goes above 32767, you will not get any money when you sell them something

Thanks folks, good feedback. In the meantime I've started stashing everything my room at mages colleage (I'm the arch mage). I'm not really fussed about the money, I'm up to $80k, so can buy nearly anything I want. I really just wanted to offload equipment.

It's a real pain when your on a quest and all this good stuff is available but you cant carry it.
I was loading up my buddy (Serana) but it just didnt seem fair, she's a handy fighter to have on my side.

Anyway, I'll work on my speechcraft and keep selling to see if they come up with more gold.

One thing you can do is trade heavy items for lighter weight items like gems and enchanted jewelery. Just buy the light weight stuff from merchants, adding enough gold to them so they can afford to buy your weighty stuff.

I go on selling cycles. After adventuring a bit, I will go around to all the merchants in the land and sell things off. By the time you hit them all, the first one has money again.

Riften is one of the better places to sell with 3 general merchants, food and blacksmith all together.

Buy some empty soulgems first and sell the junk after.
