Can't dual cast

Hi

Just picked the dual casting destruction perk...

I load the sparks spell in both hands and make sure inventory has <LR> symbol near spell.
I hit both left and right mouse buttons simultaneously, but it is still a one hand casting.

Am I doing anything wrong?

I don't think you need to use both buttons if you have the dual-cast perk, I believe that's kind of the point of having it. The game treats both hands as a single spell cast. I use a hotkey mod myself so maybe I'm mistaken on that, but I'd imagine that's how it's supposed to work.

That's because of a mod you're using.

OP, you'll have to post your mod load order so people can help figure out what's wrong.

duel cast is both hand preased and used at the same time like fire and lightning for the biger ones like the master ones only need to hold one button

I know this is an old post but the same thing is happening with me. When I try to cast sparks from both hands, it only shoots from one hand (typically the left). Not sure why. it didn't happen at the begging of the game. I can post my mod list if that helps....

I just completely decided not to pick any dual cast perks as a solution.

BUT there is a workaround...
Reset one of your mouse buttons to a keyboard key (let's say "b").
Now, if you hit "b" and the other mouse button at the same time, you can dual cast. You still need to time it right, however, but it did work for me.

I'm actually using a game pad (can't play games with a mouse)... Do you think it owuld work with that as well?

Unfortunately, I don't know. I play on a pc with keyboard and mouse.
It's worth switching around the controls to see if it works though.

If you are using the default mouse and keyboard setup that comes with the install of the game, then the following worked for me:

1) Open you magic menu and go to the spell you wish to dual cast.
2) While hovering over the spell with your mouse, press the left and right mouse buttons at the same time. (You should see a "LR" appear next to the spell)
3) When casting press both mouse buttons simultaneously to use both hands to cast a single fire ball. Press each mouse button down at different times to cast two separate fire balls at the same time.

I recently started playing my mage again and the damned dual casting bug is reminding me why I stopped playing mage. I click both left and right mouse buttons, sometimes I notice my old hands press one slightly before the other depending on how I'm having to dodge the enemy, and it usually gives me one of two results. One, a hand hangs mid cast and doesn't execute till I try and cast again, then the other hand is hung until I try and cast again, repeat until you switch spells. Two, it will cast one of the hands, but not both. This is especially annoying when it is after a fight and you are trying to recast an armor spell before moving on. Especially annoying when you see a saber cat coming during travel and you are trying to renew defenses before they get to you. Really annoying when you are trying to Fire Bolt a flying dragon and you keep getting separate spells instead of the combined dual casted spell.

I suggest they relax the activation check to 0.5 seconds if not a full second for us older players.
