Never leave scripted Dialogue and go off adventuring. Unless you want to fubar your whole game.
You'll be inviting constant crashes or the game characters not reacting at all.
Of course it's your game to do with as you please
I'VE JUST PERFORMED SOME ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BLACK MAGIC, AND THE SCRIPT WORKED PROPERLY
Are any of you running a mod called "Not so fast - Main quest"?
https://www.nexusmod...ition/mods/2475
If you read a little ways down in the description it says the following:
Breezehome is available for purchase immediately after giving Farengar the tablet from Bleak Falls Barrow and Ireleth does immediately not appear to introduce the first dragon sighting.
One week after giving Farengar the tablet the journal entry "I wonder if Farengar has made any progress on his Dragon research." will appear. Ireleth's scene about the first dragon sighting will start the next time the player visits Farengar.
I hope this helps out.
I spent 3 days of messing around with mods, loading saved games and trying to reset quests but I still couldn't get any response from Balgruuf other than a terse 'Not Now!' and Irileth was nowhere to be seen.
After seeing your blog, I sat in Darogonreach and used the wait function to force a week past in about 2 mins. After one week exactly the Dragon Rising quest began spontaneously, Irileth appeared and the Jarl was sending me off dragon slaying:-)
This is the one. You are a scholar and a gentlemen.
