[POSSIBLE SPOILERS] Penitus Oculatus' role in Skyrim after Destroy the Dark Brotherhood Quest?

Hey guys, a bit of a lore-ish question,

I've recently taken out the Dark Brotherhood for the Penitus Oculatus' commander (and was able to obtain their armor by killing the lone guard within the HQ by enraging him while the commander wasn't looking), and I've been wondering: does the Penitus Oculatus still have a role in Skyrim after this? While I think they might still have a lore role around as a more important police and intelligence force (after all, they acted like Skyrim's MI6 to obtain information on the Dark Brotherhood) but I don't really think they have a very large role in Skyrim after both the end of the Stormcloak* Rebellion and the Dark Brotherhood, especially if the Emperor isn't going to visit any time around. What are you guys' thoughts about this?

*I've taken out Ulfric Stormcloak and his rebellion together with the Empire before I took on the Destroy the Dark Brotherhood questline.

Penitus Oculatus's role was to protect the Emperor, which is why they were investigating the guild of paid killers. They clearly had an idea that someone on the council wanted him dead, and were proactively dealing with the issue.

Now whether the next Emperor feels he/she can trust them is another issue. They might be replaced, or it might just be the leaders, plus some serious retraining for the others.
