[Help] Cloak Spells not dealing any damage
Anytime I use any cloak spell it isn’t dealing any damage, it doesn’t even show that Enemies are affected by it(on fire, sparks flying of them, Etc)
I can’t even finish J’zargo’s Quest because it doesn’t work like it should.

I tried to find out who else had this problem, but it seems like I’m the only person in this universe who’s had this problem. (Thus why I’m asking here)

Everyone else’s cloak works fine (Especially against me), why can’t mine?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Update: upon returning to the game after a year (Holy Cow!), It seems that by entering combat with it already active it functions normally like it should (i start up the cloak out of combat, I then enter battle while it is still on).

What i don't know is why the spell works before the fight starts but not from activating it mid-battle

Once again any help would be greatly appreciated.

Just wanted to drop in and say that you are not alone my friend. Maybe we are the only 2 people having the issue, but I also share it with you. I am actually thankful for the workaround you discovered. I wonder what is causing the issue though. I will keep you updated.

Also had this exact issue recently (same issue with J'zargo's Quest too), reinstalling also did not fix the issue. Ran a totally clean install, uninstalled all my mods with Nexus Mod Manager, deleted all saves, uninstalled the game, deleted all loose files and config files then reinstalled. This resolved the issue for me.

I totally forgot that I had made this post back in 2019.

So after yet another year, I make another update and a possible fix
It turns out that it was a "friendly fire protection" Mod (that's what it is called when seeing it in Nexus mod manager) that was the cause of this mystery issue (and my irritation).

So, in conclusion: this mod was uninstalled after appropriate steps were taken to ensure it does not leave a lasting "impression" on the game
I don't remember what the original name of the mod was, nor on which site I found it, so I can't post the link to indicate which mod it was that was causing the issue (it might be because of this weird Nexus Collections controversy, I don't know), but if anyone recognizes this mod, please post a link to it (if at all possible), as well as the name if it differs from what it is called by NMM so I can add an update to this comment as well as close the book on this topic.

I appreciate everyone hanging in there, and I hope that you all have a splendid day

With high regards, Lord Matthew Shados of the First Shadowstorm Empire

Hi, so I'm having the issue too. I have no mods. I cast the spell and see the flames swirling around me. I got close to skeletons and draugr and attacked them in melee. But nothing was happening. I'm running the anniversary edition on Xbox Series X.

Just FYI I actually lost the spell tomb from J'Zagar (sp?) but found a different one off a burnt body on flaming grass, east of Dawnstar.

Three issues.

First, these are the forums for Oldrim while you need the SE forums.
Second, You are hijacking someone else's thread.
Third, you are on a console, unless you are playing vanilla there is little people can suggest to help, since most people here are on PC.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
