Skyrim Special Edition needs an update and I can't update it :'(

I tried to boot up Skyrim Special Edition on Steam ready to update it and I get the error code (content servers unreachable) I have tried everything, internet settings detect no blocking of any apps for safe search reasons, tried changing my download region, that didn't work. I'm puzzled because the normal Skyrim is working, but not Special Edition, is there anything that I can do?

I have never had this problem before and I can't even reinstall Skyrim SE and my mods all over again without updating it. If anyone can provide an answer for my so frustrating issue, I will greatly appreciate the help.

What update? There hasn't been an update for SSE for a couple of months

I haven't been on my PC in over a year playing Skyrim due to other issues.

uninstall your game. clear out your download cache. log back on to your account.
go to library and reinstall.
or you can try to validate your files. that too well get the current version to download.
those are the steps that should allow you to get the most current version.

My Steam dowload cache? Recently got a new router and I have turned it on and off and that didn't work either.

yes your steam download cache . that will clear out your account information as well so you will have to log back into your account.

Steam can't even update itself now, FML.

check antivirus log - a new definition might be blocking steam

I would if Steam actually decides to update successfully.

Settings > Downloads > Clear Download Cache.
