Canon Dragonborn - Dragonplate or Daedric armor?
Ok, so this is another ‘Daedric vs. Dragon’ armor debate, but I want to add the lore and canon into the mix as well.

So I roleplay as more or less as a canon Nord Dragonborn seen from all the promotion media, my specialty being one-handed+block. Additionally, I’ve also invested in archery and survival skills (enchanting, smithing, alchemy, lockpicking, sneaking, etc.)

Equipment-wise, I’ve used the iron boots, helmet, gauntlets with studded armor and a branded Iron shield with skyforge steel sword (the iconic gear).

Now, that I’ve killed Alduin and Miraak, I’ve figured that by this time the Dragonborn has become too legendary to be wearing just basic equipment.

Which is why I’m torn between giving him dragonplate armor or daedric. Normally, I would go for dragon armor because it makes all the sense: DB has slain many dragons, so he has plenty material to work with (if he is canonically a smith), plus dragonplate armor looks very nordic by design with the horns, armbands and fur. Also, the dragonplate helmet looks similar to his iconic Iron helmet, having horns on the sides and an exposed mouth for better shouting.
I feel like this armor represents the DB at the height of his legend.

And yet, there’s something about daedric armor. First thing, the armor looks dragon-shaped with the helmet looking like a dragon’s head and the shield looking like a folded dragon’s wing. From a story perspective, once DB defeats Miraak it is assumed that he becomes a servant to Hermaeus Mora, who might make the DB corrupt with knowledge and power, since we know that those with a soul of a dragon desire power above all else. And since he becomes a champion to a Daedric prince, shouldn’t he wear Daedric armor at this point? Maybe his lust for knowledge leads him to the Atronach forge, where summons himself daedric armor?

So what do you guys think - which armor would a canon Dragonborn wear by the end of the game? Maybe he should just ditch both armors and wear Miraak’s robes?

Maybe Miriam's robes with kanahrik. Since you are the last dragon born and forever servant to hermaeus mora

We don't actually know about the Dragonborn becoming a servant to Hermaeus Mora, since by canon, the Dragonborn's soul is technically up for grabs by any of the Divines (including Talos) and any of the Daedra. I would go with dragonbone armor, since also by canon, it could be said that Akatosh is the spiritual grandfather of all dragonborns. Besides, Akatosh is himself the Dragon God of Time, so with that in mind, I think that dragonbone armor would be more appropriate.

However, I think using canon as the basis for this decision is a mistake, as we just don't know what's canon yet. That all depends on the next game in the series, and that's going to be awhile. Until then, it's all speculation, so I would just advise you to make a decision and go with it.

The debate really seems to wind up in the heart of the Dragonborn..... Are you in fact seduced to serve the Daedric Lords or do you strive to serve and carve your own destiny on the face of the world?? In answering that question you easily decide which armor would best represent yourself and your chosen path.

Serving the Daedra would definitely lead you to wearing Daedric Armor in representation of that service.
Continuing to carve your own destiny, free of daedric rule would have you using your accumulated stock of dragon bones and scales to fashion your armor from that and show your heritage as the Dragonborn not a daedric puppet.

Start with a rusty dagger ... finish with a rusty dagger ...

Lorewise there is never going to be anything on what armour a hero is wearing. For Morrowind the lore says the hero acquired a specific helmet, and gave it to the Warrior's guild of Cyrodill, but that's about it for armour, it doesn't even say he wore it.

It would be a fun little project to make an OP Iron Dagger with the smithing, enchanting, alchemy loop. I would name it the *insert Counter-strike voice* "Blade of HUMILIATION".
