Key Mapping/Binding for Skyrim, Skyrim LE
I spent a lot of time looking for a solution to remapping keys for left handed (or other) use to play Skyrim. I've put together a quick solution (that worked for me anyway) from my research:

This works for Steam edition on Win 7 and above, but should be useful/adaptable for legacy installations as well. For lefties (not political lefties) like me, or people who just want to remap Skyrim commands to the number pad keys, this is the easiest way I've found to make it happen.

NOTE: I was not able to figure out how Skyrim SE stores its key mappings, so if you can figure it out and this solution can be altered to work, please post a reply here.

What you need:

1. SkyrimKeyHelper 2000 (SKH) from https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/88/? (Look at optional files underneath the main files section)

2. Notepad or like text editor (to read readme file)

3. Windows file explorer

Simple instructions:

1. Read the SKH app readme file - it will give you some good information to help understand how it works and how to use it.

2. Open SkyrimKeyHelper.exe and use the application to update your key mappings.

!! IMPORTANT !! - click through all the HotKey 1-8 commands in the command selection control on the left and remove the current numpad key bindings (leave the keyboard number bindings or remap to other keys as desired); otherwise, some/all of any newly mapped numpad keys will not work in-game.

3. Click "Save & Write Changes" - note the path where SKH says it saved the changes (from the message box that pops up)

4. Locate your Skyrim "program" folder (for instance mine is G:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Skyrim) and in the root folder make sure this folder structure exists (if not, created it): Data\Interface\Controls\PC

5. Copy the "controlmap.txt" file from the SKH output target folder from step three and paste it into the "PC" folder from step four.

Hope this is helpful

Should be an option to pin this in one of the sub sections of discussions or technical help or what ever

Just to follow up, this process can be completed for Skyrim SE as well. Just create the controlmap.txt file using keyhelper (from scratch if you don't have Oldrim), create the structure Data\Interface\Controls\PC under your SSE game folder, and copy the controlmap.txt file to the PC folder - this was my last ditch effort to get it to work for SSE, and behold it worked. Probably a no-brainer for most, but I had to go around my elbow to get to my thumb on this one.
