You can also set the spell to summon multiple creatures at once - none of that "have to be Conjuration 100 before you can summon 2" crap.
Or, keep the Atronachs, but upgrade their spells to Incinerate with Disarm and a high-level Frenzy, and Icy Spear with paralysis and Drain Health on the end of it.
I mean, WhyTF is someone covered in visible flames still charging at me with their weapon drawn? They should be stopping, dropping, and rolling if anything.
The obvious examples of spell mods are Apocalypse, and Phenderix Magic Evolved. They add plenty of new magic for all schools, conjuration included. I also like Forgotten Magic, adds a few dozen spells that actually level up, and you can add effects to them, though they're kinda outclassed by many other magic spells from the other mods.
As for armors, Immersive Armors usually has something for everyone. Common Clothing is nice as well (for RP purposes anyway, but does have some nice ones). Warmonger Armory will probably have something you like. If you want to get fancy, Divine Elegance.
Summermyst has lots of great enchantments in it, such as giving nearby summoned/reanimated creatures mroe health and armor.
