The game mechanics are vey different so it does matter what mods you use on which version.
I bought it all in a bundle I think in 2014 so i think i just have the LE version but in game version says sxse 1.9, and steam dont really let me buy it again, i have all dlc and one that says HD mod or something like that. i have never been one for grafics and I barely notice but i was curious for the mods.
Thanks, in my library it just says elder scrolls skyrim V.
no SE anywhere for me to see.
hence my question. I am almost sure i had the legendary edition but i never checked. and the mods are kind of picky.
the version is: 1.0.32.08 (sxse 1.7.3 rol 43)
SE came out in 2016 and if you didn't snag the free copy during the release party...then you definitely have the LE or Oldrim as it's called, version. I didn;t have the Dawnguard DLC when SE was released so I didn't qualify for the freebie and I haven't yet had any reason to buy it.
If you had all the dlc before SE came out you got it for free. If you look for Skyrim now on steam it will always bring you to the SE page becuase they hid the Oldrim version. You should have it if you bought the legendary edition bundle in 2014, and like I said before you should have two in your library.
What? Didn't Special Edition literally do nothing but update the graphics?
YOU WERE RIGHT, I HAD THE GAME AS FAVORITE SO THE OLD ONE WAS THE ONE BEING PLAYED... ALWAYS, I JUST UNFAVORITED IT AND NOW I HAVE TWO, HAD THE OLD ONE INSTALED AND A SPECIAL EDITION POPPED UP RIGHT BEHIND IT.
THANKS!!!!!!!
SE is a 64 bit game engine while Oldrim is a 32 bit. Mods for Oldrim can be ported or 'upgraded' to use in SE but I hear that its very hard to port SE mods for use in Oldrim.
Technically the 64 bit engine is more stable but the game is pretty much the same otherwise. Same flaws and bugs in bot versions that the modders try to correct.
