Dawnguard cache question
i was traveling with Serana on Winterhold when i greet by 2 bears, one of them attack an Traveling Dawnguard NPC name Saliah and she died, i loot her bodied and found a note about 3 secret Dawnguard caches. right now i'm in the middle Dawnguard DLC questline and i'm siding with the Dawnguard not the vampire.. my question:
1. i read the Wiki it says "The strongboxes do not appear in the game world until the orders that describe their locations are obtained and read." Does that mean i have to kill my brother in arms or pickpocket them to get the cache to spawn? or is there another way for it to spawn?
2. With Saliah dead does that mean the strongboxes would never restock with supplies again?

There are three letters, each gives you three sites to find, you should also find a key at the same time, or you will have to pick a lock (expert).

There are different circumstances for each letter.

These are tough things to find.

If you want more information on the letters UESP Skyrim:Saliah will give a small write up with a description of the locations.

However you may want to try to follow the letters description first as having things pointed out ruins the surprise.

The encounters with these radiant NPCs are rare and totally random. However, they can usually be found near their cache locations. Unfortunately, you usually find them dead or dying as they're very weak, and pretty much created to die so you can find the notes and the caches.

You're more likely to run across the lone Dawnguard who is being hounded by Vampires. If you save him, he quits and drops all his DG gear on the ground, along with a note from Isran telling him what a loser he is and he's got one more chance to straighten up - by refilling the field caches.

That's an understatement, I have the guide, and have only come across one once.

my problem is that Saliah is dead she is killed by a Snow bear, and i found the note about the location of the strongboxes. my question is now that Saliah dead does this strongboxes will still resupply with item like Thieves caches?

They are caches left by the ancient dawnguard, as far as I know they are one time only, I have never been back after the first time.

I don't think Saliah surviving makes any difference, apart from a role playing perspective of wanting to keep your allies alive.

oh, so it's one time only, okay

Well you could pickpocket the note read it ... and put it back thus getting double the pickpocket experience and not really stealing from an ally. The reason she usually dies is so that you will find the notes more easily. If she survives she'll just stand in the same place for a long time.

I think your trying to read more into this little easter egg than exists. It's just a little treat to discover on a rare event that you may only happen every two or three playthroughs.

The conditions vary, one dawnguard member can be saved, but quits handing you the letter and key, another is dead when you get there. I think Saliah might doomed to die fighting, but I could be wrong.

If I remember right, you don't have to kill them at all, just find them and either talk to them or loot them after they die. You will have to kill the mobs assailing them though.

This is very strange. I have never had or encountered this questline before. Nor even heard of it.

Skyrim, you got me again.

You get told about the caches at castle Dawnguard, but encountering the person with a letter to guide you is very rare, and deciphering the letter without a guide is near impossible.
