I can't mine any ore veins
I have a pickaxe equipped and yet neither activating on an ore vein or hitting it works. I have a decent amout of mods so it's likely that but I really can't disable one at a time, would take too long and would also break my save. Any ideas what mod is causing this??

I don't know where to look for the mining script in TES5EDIT...

Edit: Ok I found the ore mining scripts, they are in Global, but now I see that nothing changes those scripts from the Skyrim.esm which would mean literally no mod affects mining??

show the load order of your mods.

You probably have two mods modifying the same mine ore script. Had this happen once, it was CACO - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/69306 , and Traps Make Noise - More Dangerous Traps - Mining Makes Noise - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/31799

Don't know if you have these, but it is undoubtely a conflict in that script.

Unfortunately, since this involves a script, and the removal of a mod, you will either have to go back to a save made prior to the culprit mod having been installed, or start a new game.

To find out, search in the Scripts folder for MineOreScript

I think you mean CCOR instead of CACO smr1957? That's the one with the mining script:
https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49791

I run all 3 of them at the moment. That optional mining plugin of Traps Make Noise does indeed conflict with CCOR, but comes with a compatibility patch to replace that mining script.

CACO also has it, the mods are all made by kryptopyr, and I think she used the same script but just gave each one a different prefix - thus causing the conflict.

Try that patch and see if that fixes it - if not, you have a problem, as I outlined above. Hope it works

A thought, if you still have a problem after installing the patch, you can open it up in TES5Edit and see how it fixes it - you should then be able to determine how to apply the same fix for CACO.

I checked and CACO does indeed add a mining script, not a replacer for the general mining script like CCOR though, it adds an additional ore deposit for Sulfur. But again, I have CCOR, CACO, Traps Make Noises (with the minescript patch) and also the integrated Gem Collecter part of Legacy of the Dragonborn and Fossil Mining all installed without any additional conflicts.

DBL, if you have any of these mods or others related to mining: Search in the Script folder in Skyrim/Data and look for MineOreScript.pex (and perhaps CACO_MineOreScript.pex). Back up those files somewhere, remove them from that Script folder and try if that changes anything in-game. Posting your loadorder (with LOOT) does help us narrow it down.

Thanks guys, I don't have those mods and according to MO it says USLEEP is the one who is modifying the script but I really can't disable that mod I'm sure most agree... Huh what then?

You can disable the Usleep .esm for troubleshooting, to check if you can mine without it. Just make sure not to save if you want to continue from that point.

So did you check in the Scripts folder if a MineOreScript.pex file is present? I highly doubt Usleep is the cause, it's possible it has a conflict with another mod though. Have you by any chance removed any mods mid-game?

No, it is not USLEEP that is the problem - if you are having a problem, it is most definitely something else.

Yes I have the script, and the script is from USLEEP. I have removed a few mods yes... Hey you know what, Ill make a new character just to try and see if mining works.

Edit: ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, it works on a new character, well thats both good and bad I guess, imo leveling to 13 takes a good amount of time and I really don't want to redo everything just for the ores... no I'll just not mine, it's not the worst thing in this game.

Lesson learned: Don't remove mods mid game ever...

When you removed the mods, I hope you went back to a save made before those mods had been installed, or started a new game. See:

And, just to reiterate - USLEEP is not the problem.

You mean you found the loose mining script file MineOreScript.pex in the Scripts folder? It doesn't come with USLEEP, it might be imbedded in USLEEP's .esm file but if you indeed found that loose file it belongs to another mod.

You could use a scriptcleaner to try to fix your current save by removing possible orphan scripts, but to be frank, if you're only at level 13 starting fresh is far less of a hassle. And yeah, don't remove mods during a playthrough, problems like these are bound to happen that way.
DeBlue Sep 15, 2018 @ 5:41pm
Nah don't worry about it, I'll just stick to my save, at least I know my next character won't have the same problem. Then again tbh, I rarely use resource gathering anyway lol, just thought I wanted to try perhaps.
