Enb dosent work, all steps followed. (Tetrachromatic ENB)
I had Rudy enb for a good while, when i decided i wanted something more vibrant. I looked around and found Tetrachromatic ENB. It looked good so i went to install. I deleted all old enb files and installed these ones. Open opening the game, the enb is not active.

I have unistalled non essential mods keeping Alternate start, Atlas map markers, better messagebox controls, crash fixes, Extended UI, IHUD, Load game ctd fix, Skyhud, SkyUI, USLEEP, USCP(Unofficial skyrim city patch), and the Tetrachromatic ENB particle patch.

These are the only mods im using, as all other textures etc. will be put in when i was satisfied with enb look. However as i said, the game looks vannilla. Im unsure if im doing something wrong while following the instructions on the page, but i had the ENBdev files installed. Right now ive uninstalled all enb and enbdev files and im gonna try to install again. If i cant get it working i might just use a different enb.

Does anyone know, did i create this problem myself? Or is there something wrong with the enb?
(Sorry, im new to modding)

Have you tried toggling the ENB on and off to see if there's any change? If you're using the enblocal.ini file that comes with Tetrachromatic, it looks like the key combination is shift+f12 (that's the key combination for KeyUseEffect under the [INPUT] header in the enblocal.ini file that I see).

You should set up the enblocal.ini file for your system if you haven't already. See this guide for help.

Ok! So shift+12 DOES do soemthing. What it is i cant say. From what i could tell, shift f12 changed shadows on objects and npcs. It was a miniscual change, and none of the enb effects worked. I am using the enblocal.ini. Still no dice.

(Edit: im going to try downloading another enb to see what happens)

Could you have mistakenly overwritten some of Tetrachromatic ENB's files with the files from the ENB binary file? Remember you only need the d3d9.dll and enbhost.exe files from the wrapper folder - I just had a thought thought that might be a reason why there were virtually no effects.

I tried downloading the antique dragon enb and the same thing happend. No dice. I always install ENB binary files before enb files btw. Shift f12 still toggles some shadows. I have no idea what i could be doing wrong. SOMETHING is disabling the enb effects.

Looking at Skyrimprefs, settings, re-reading installation guides, i cant find ANYTHING i did wrong. However i did notice the mod says: "Make sure to download and install the DirectX 9 Runtimes." I checked and i have DiretX12 by default on my computer(Windows 10) Is it possible that the reason this isnt working is because i need to downgrade, and Rudy ENB didnt need DirectX 9. This dosent make sense to me though.

I don't know honestly, but it would be something to try.

Are you getting the ENB active message on the top left of your screen when you start the game? And the two files, d3d9.dll and enbhost.exe, are located in your Skyrim folder, correct?

Update: The link to "Direct x 9 runtimes" is here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35 its seems totally legit, but it says the supported operating systems are

Windows 7, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2, Windows Server 2008, Windows Vista, Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows XP Service Pack 3

???

Welp. The message i get when running the installer is "DirectX setup has determined that a newer or equivalent version of DirectX has been installed already. No installation is necessary" Looks like thats not my problem then

Found this

"I know this thread is a year old but I came across it when trying to do the same thing. In case this result is coming up for others, I had success installing the June 2010 End-user runtimes on Windows 10 (not the 9.0c end-user runtimes, which gave me the same error mentioned in the OP)."

The package can be found here: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

I installed these files and got a prompt that says they were "ready for use" but nothing changes ingame. It dosent say anywhere on the antique dragon enb page about what to do with the files.

:(

At this point i might have to do a skyrim reinstall and delete all enb/enbdev files. I've done everything i can think of.

Yeah, I'm not sure what's going on. I would think that the latest DirectX for Windows 10 would be compatible with the ENB files but maybe not?

My biggest confusion is the fact that I HAD A WORKING ENB but when switching it it stopped working
Crosstown Traffic Aug 16, 2018 @ 9:06pm
I don't know why that would be.
Plotinus Aug 16, 2018 @ 9:07pm
My last try will be to reinstall rudy enb and if it dosent work i must have ROYALLY ♥♥♥♥♥♥ something up. Might put up a reddit thread

Rudy enb didnt work either. :(
