Messed up with body slide and outfit studio, can anyone help?
I thought I would get creative and remove some pauldrons and sleeves from the Tera armor using the outfit studio in the body slide. Unfortunately, even though it looked perfect in the outfit studio, in game the bare arms are now transparent.

I went back to my source files in a totally different place on my hard drive, copied the pristine files, and pasted them in the Skyrim > Data folder, telling the paste process to overwrite all duplicate files. Then I ran the batch update in body slide, and then launched the game again.

Somehow, overwriting all mesh and texture files with the pristine ones did not revert to the original gear. My followers still have transparent arms.

Anyone know how I can make sure the paste process really does overwrite all existing files?

Thank you in advance.

Have you tried to reinstalling the original Tera mod?

Unequip all the mod armors, delete the mod, reinstall, rerun body slide ( minus the changes you made) should fix it

Special thanks to the two who replied.

I should have told you I am using the LadyHorus Tera mod armor, which means I had to manually copy and paste over 1,400 files (1.1 GB, unpacked) into the texture and meshes folders.

I can uninstall and reinstall the one single LadyHorus file that shows up in NMM, but I am guessing what I will really have to do is uninstall, download, reinstall the game, and then manually reinstall the mod's pristine files.

Sigh. This is all my fault. Lesson learned: Don't try to tweak mods if they look great already.

Wow that is a lot ... great effort.
We all make mistakes ... and we can learn a lot from our mistakes.
But don't let that slow down what you try, getting the hang of how to use all the tools like Outfit studio to make the game how you want it.
Just do it smarter the second time .. make a copy save it and test on a renamed file .. perhaps?

I do just play as they are from what the modders offer with the vast selection available. But follow what you'd like to achieve, where it's worth it.

For me that is one reason why I prefer Mod Organizer as conflicts show in information and mods can be swapped or used in diferent profiles. Also reloading the same mod from the download folder doesn't require redownloading a mod. I guess we use what we get to know.

Thank you for understanding, Eternia.

I did indeed end up uninstalling Skyrim and disabling all mods, reinstalling Skyrim and enabling all mods. The Tera armor now looks like it should.

As far as tools go, I have used TES5Edit and Loot, but I haven't used Mod Organizer yet.

The thing that keeps me coming back to Skyrim is how moddable it is. So who knows? I might try the outfit studio again at some point in the future.

I have been playing Skyrim for 7 years and modding it for 6. I am just this year starting to try and learn how to use things like Bodyslide & Outfit Studio to see if I can learn to create some of my own ideas instead of just hoping some other modder will get around to something similar.

You might want to take a look at Vortex as a mod organizer too. It has LOOT and FNIS built into it for you and so far seems pretty good for me. Be warned tho.... simply installing it and importing your mods from NMM or whatever needs to be done correctly or you will have the super mess that I did when I just jumped in and turned my game into a plate of spaghetti. I'm still sorting it all out too BTW since I went ahead and made a major change by switching body meshes from CBBE to UNP so all affcted mods had to be either abandoned or replaced.

Best of luck to you my Friend. I recently switched over from ADEC to UNP. It took me two whole days over a weekend, but it looks vastly superior to ADEC--which is saying something because I thought ADEC looked awesome.

The new UNP body meshes look awesome AND I have the morphs for it built right into my racemenu now so I can adjust it however I like which is an option I didn't have before. I have been play testing as I add mods back in since building beack the broad base of things so I already have several body presets made now too.

For regardless what mods I use ... I can enter skyrim and be transported to a beautiful fantasy land. The world modded right just blows me away. At times the night sky .. or a view of the rift valley is such that I can just sit there and watch the sun set, not doing anything!
Just living in that world or the moment . Dam didn't see that vampire sneak up on me .... Fus

At times like that it doesn't matter what your wearing or which body type you have; it just time to be the game. Those are worries before you enter the game to allow yourself to have all those fantastic clothes or outrageous weapons, cos they look cool. :charm:

Yes, totally agree with the previous two posts. With mods, Skyrim transports the player from a large, detailed RPG into a beautiful fantasy world. I also just sit and behold the vision the game provides.

Skyrim modding is like vicious cycle. Always leaves you wanting more and you eventually break the game, fix it after struggling for days and install new mods again.
