Dawnguard - Prophet Quest, Hestla Dead.
Anyone know anyway to stop her dying in the Castle Hall during this quest? I can't ressurect her because I may forfeit getting anymore achievements for using a command.

thanks.

The reason you can't rez her is that when NPCs die the games runs a "death script" on them and rezzing them doesn't undo that script.

So yeah, be more worried about breaking your save then losing achievements.

I haven't tried to rez her. I haven't used commands on Skyrim since it's release. My point is I have no other idea's on how to avoid her death bug...

Sure, but rezzing her with a console command isn't an option if you value your save.
The wiki page for that quest does not mention Hestla, and Hestla's page does not mention that quest, or any other. I haven't done it from the vampire side, so why do you need her alive aside from her being a merchant?

I'm not a fan of named NPC's dying unless they need to. I just think it's ashame she has to be dead. I've seen a few people on the forums have the very same bug, suppose it's something that never got fixed so I'l just have to deal with it.

It's not a bug.

She's suppose to be dead?

Unless an NPC is marked as essentiall (which the majority are not), yes, they can die.

I know this. But the title stated Hastla from Dawnguard is dead in the castle hall, she shouldn't have died, no one attacked her. So therefore its a bug. I didn't say named NPC's shouldn't die.

Ahh, I get what you are saying now! Could be a mod conflict? Have never seen this mentioned (which is not to say that's it isn't a bug). Are you using the Unofficial patch? Have you tried loading a prior save?
Can't help much beyond that, as I've never seen this referred to anywhere. Maybe someone else has seen this and can post here.

Would be interesting to know if this is mod related or not.

I've never modded my Skyrim dude. I plan to once i finish the main questline/Guildes/DLC but I play completely vanilla at the moment. I've seen a few people on the Skyrim forum mention the exact same problem however they never got a solution. I pretty much installed Skyrim and the DLC through steam and played as is.
So unfortunately it's never been a big enough problem to get fixed. I just wondered if anyone had found a way to stop it happening, it's ashame to lose a merchant and potencial side quest for no reason is all.

Well, the one mod you have to have (and if this is a known bug, it may be covered by it) is the Unofficial Patch - Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch - https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/71214

Fixes literally THOUSANDS of bugs. Can't say for sure that this is covered in there (and it would not fix it retroactively, anyway), but there is a very good chance it would be if the team knew about it.

If it is not covered, you can use their bug report page to report it (Bethesda is completely done with the game - so they will not take any action on it at all)

Here are some links to the Unofficial Patch team's pages:

Thank you dude, will take a look into adding this. I appreciate it very much.

Also, just because you didn't see a NPC die, doesn't mean they are dead for no reason.
