Sven? No? Ok...

Does anyone else like having Sven as follower? Dunno why but for some reason I like the idea of bard following me, expecialy when I play character like Cleric/Vigilant of Stendarr in Skyrim terms, feels almost like I have a squire, expecially when I dress him similary to Vigilant or in plate armor.

Side note: what follower would you reccomand for 'cleric' character, someone that would match him. (I prefere human followers)

Is there some that uses Sven more then 10 minutes? Or until you have done the first quest in Whiterun and you get Lydia that is way better tank then Sven.

I do, in one playthrough I used him whole game, gave him full plate armor and mace, made him my palladin squire or something.

There are no best followers because they all get in the way. Mjoll is good only because she is essential and can't be killed

Mjoll is essential because she have quests on her.

Derkeethus is also essential, as well as only lizard that can walk behind you.

My Ranger/Hunter has him as a follower, decked with fancy clothes, and a real mean Crossbow.

For a Cleric Playthrough Erandur could be quite good a good follower as he's a Priest and can cast spells. He is a dunmer so is of the human races.with a max level of 50 is as good as most vanilla followers.

The highest level vanilla followers are the Dark brotherhood initiates that can level up to L100 with you. But are not for a Cleric Playthrough.

Benor in Morthal or Urgerth in Whiterun make a decent tank follower with some fighting skills. Both are a bit rough around the edges but would fit the squire role since you have to kick their behinds first to get them to respect and follow you.

Trade out the 2hnd sword for a warhammer if you really want them more into a cleric's squire look too.

especially* I go for the mage followers myself, such as onmund and marcurio. They don't get in the way like the melee ones, and don't miss as often as the ranged ones. Plus with mods like AFT/iAFT, you can teach them spells you know. My favorite follower however will always be Jorin, the fox companion from BFF Animal Companions.
