Console Command Help: Spawning Bran (DG DLC)
I'm having trouble spawning Bran (the husky) via console command. I have the RefID for Bran that I got by doing save functlist to get a list of RefID's (I had to do this since I have mods installed and Bran xx RefID was different from what I kept finding online). For me his ref ID is listed as 0401AA7B, but when I type "player.placeatme 0401AA7B" I get a script error. I've typed in Sceolang's RefID (0401AA76) that I received from the save functlist doc and I was able to spawn him without any trouble.

I understand that Bran won't follow me if spawned via console command. I'm using a mod that will allow me to convert them into a follower again. If anyone can help that would be wonderful!

Edit: I finally got Bran to spawn. Apparently I had been typing in the wrong ID. I was suppose to type out the Base ID not the RefID. D;

oh god, another trying to use console commands without knowing the long term effects on the game. Spawing in scripted NPCs is never advised as it could corrupt your current game.
Console commands are meant as a developer tool, left in for mod makers, not for someone to cheat like that.

Why not get the husky the way you're supposed to and avoid screwing up your game long term.

Oh god a person complaining about me using console commands. The only NPC I'm trying to spawn is Bran, no one else. I'm pretty sure spawning a follower who has no heavy impact on the game will NOT screw up my game. Yes console commands are meant as developer tools and for mod makers, but what about people who come across bugs or have used a mod that may have cause an NPC to disappear?
Also how am I cheating by spawning an NPC that gives no major advantage in gameplay? Especially an NPC I've already come across while doing the Dawnguard storyline?
If you're so concerned about me screwing up my game or trying to advise that I not console spawn an NPC you could do better than this. Thanks for the unhelpful comment.

Spawning any NPC can screw up your game, if they are in two places at once, or both alive and dead at the same time, well crashes are in your future.
Mods generally don't use console commands, because the creation kit has other tricks that are less tricky, and the devs use a fuller kit that we don't have, and even then it can crash it on them.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Yeah I understand that spawning NPC's can be risky. I'm using Tame the Beasts of Skyrim II mod and I wanted to remove Bran and Sceolang as creatures that I tamed. Unforunately the mod removes them completely instead of having them return to the Dawnguard castle. My plan was to remove them via mod and then console command spawn them in castle again in case I wanted to tame them in the future. Thanks for the info though. I didn't know two NPC's being dead at the same time could become an issue.

Yes! It was the XX01AA74. XX01AA7B was giving me the script error. Eh I see what went wrong now. Thanks xD
