Falkreath NPCs won't interact with me
So no one in Falkreath will talk to me the way they should, I just get "hmm?" "yeah?" and no options. The Jarl and all his NPCs are all stuck in the room on the left, still not interacting with me.

I tried searching for it, and validating the files finds one file missing and tries to require it, it downloads, I enter the game and the NPCs still won't talk. Tries validatig again and the file is still missing, this keeps happening over and over again. So what do I do?

Do you have any mods?
One mod that you should get in the unofficial patches as it fixes most vanilla glitches.
Currently you would need to have all DLC to use it though.

I already ahve the unoffical patch, and I've played with the same mods for over a year now, only got a new one here recently, which I've then disabled because I thought that it might be that one. That didn't help however :/

Still stuck at the one file missing will be reaquired

You disabled it, but did you go back to a save made prior to the installation of that mod? You need to do that - with just a very few exceprtions, mods cannot be disabled/uninstalled mid-playthrough. See: http://steamcommunity.com/app/72850/discussions/0/1495615865205745360/

And one file always fails to validate, it is completely normal and has to do with the game checking your graphics - which it does when the game is launched.

So I'll never get a Falkreath NPC to talk to me again on my character? :(

I unsubcribed and disabled the "new" mod, and made a completely clean new save.

It's the same, no one in Falkreath will interact with me. It's only Falkreath, everywhere else is completely fine....

(The only save where they will talk with me, is on my older save)

Did you read that post I linked or what I wrote? There is no such thing as a "clean" save. It is all covered in that linked post.

I did? I made an entirely NEW SAVE, as in I made a completely new character, I even did that thrice to check and still nothing.

Check to make sure that all traces of that mod is removed, that may be what is now causing problems - and you should not use Steam Workshop, it has been broken since April '15.

To fully remove workshop mods, go to your \steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\data folder and delete the esp and bsa for the mods you were subscribed to. Unfortunately unsubbing does not remove the mod.

Sounds like you need to completely remove all traces of the game and your mods and reinstall Skyrim to make sure it doesn't happen with vanilla Skyrim.

If it does then something is wrong.
If it doesn't then it wasn't that mod you think it was.

Validating files in Steam only replace vanilla files. If a mod doesn't touch vanilla files then it doesn't matter. The mod you tried could've left traces of itself in your game directory, thus the need to reinstall the game.

Can you give us a mod list and tell us which mod it was that you recently added? Without any specifics you aren't going to get much help besides "clean and reinstall"

Not necessary - last resort only - not there at this point
Just do as I said and post an update - we'll go from there

This seems to be a last resort thing but it's up to the OP. Personally I would've removed ALL the mods before resorting to a reinstall, but he seems adamant that it's whatever mod he got from the workshop.
smr1957 Jun 30, 2018 @ 8:00am
OP states they interacted with him on an older save - so it is something that was changed after that - most likely (from info given) the mod that was added in.
Shadey Jun 30, 2018 @ 11:08am
I've deleted all traces of the new mod

They still won't interact with me on new saves
They still will on my older save

And apparently some people have run into this bug without mods as well :(
