[SOLVED] Smithing Bug

[Crystal Sharrd]

I am unable to temper an Iron Dagger. I have an Iron Ingot, but when I try to temper it at a grindstone I'm told, "You lack the skill to improve this item."

If it is Iron you can only temper it one time, and you dont have set the perk for it.
What level are you?

Currently Level 6, it started when I was Level 1, and it's for the miscellaneous quest given by Alvor in Riverwood. And I've never tempered it before.

Ok. Then you may have one mod that changes how the tempering works.

download and run LOOT let it sort your load and post the result from it here.

I had this problem too. I just dowloaded and installed a mod to improve the in game smithing and everything is good.

I cant see any mod you have that will alter that quest, but you do have some unknown mods for me, and many mods alters stuff that they should not alter.
You also have some issues in your load, dont think they will do the issue you have.

Start by moving Fiss up as the first plugin after your masters.
Loot should not have placed it there.
Fiss is one master, and several of your mods depend on it as one master.

Take these mods and drag them down.

You must place them after SkyUi

Do you have latest LOOT?
How did you install your mods?
What mod manager did you use?

I have the latest LOOT installed and I use Nexus Mod Manager, installing them through the Website.

I've found out the issue. One of the mods I use (specifically Character Creation Overhaul) requires you to have a Smithing skill of Level 15 to improve items, and I have a Smithing skill of Level 5. Thanks for your help.
