The mission "kill leader at deepwood redoubt"...
...is not appearing on map now. After integrity check, he simply has no arrow to find on map. Need help since some missions such as hunt down a bandit aren't accessible, thus I have to reload game from a previous save.

Presumably you've tried just going to Deepwood Redoubt and mowing them all down?

If you really get stuck, the console can be used to sort it out. But this could be one of two quests - to find out which, first enter:

getstage BQ02 getstage Favor151

Whichever one returns 10 is the one you're doing. If it's the former, then you can skip the killing stage with:

setstage BQ02 100

(Depending on the hold, you may need to use 101 instead - save before testing.)

If it's the latter, then:

setstage Favor151 15

@Bomb Bloke

Wow! Thanks so much for clearing that up. After taking down about a dozen Foresworn, I'm glad it wasn't all in vain. I typed up the one Favor151 15 and the mission ended as it should because that's the one that had the 10 next to it.

I'd like to know how you manage to find this solution because I have another mission problem. It's important because I can't continue hunting for books for Urag gro-Shub in the college. It's a book that isn't even highlighted in the "show on map". It's called "The Last King of the Ayleids". Unless I complete this mission I won't be given anymore book quests which is one of my favorite parts of this game.

There was also a very troubling issue with the vampire women that involved getting paper for a writer of sorts in the area where her mother is (spooky place) that someone solved by ocmpleting it. It would cause the game to crash unpredictably all over the place. This is my second character and wouldn't want to start all that up again. I heard it drove a lot of other people crazy. If you know codes to just end certain missions and a way to find it, please let me know. And thanks again for the Deepwood mission solution.

UESP[en.uesp.net] is my main resource for this sort of thing. If you do a web search for the name of a quest you're stuck on + UESP, you'll usually end up on a page where someone's already written about your problem and documented the solution (check the "Bugs" section of each article). If you're not sure of the quest name, then searching for the location you've been sent to will give you a page that includes a list of all the quests it could be.

Even if there isn't a tip already written for the problem at hand (and there very nearly always is!), the page for each quest has the code name for the quest as well as a list of all the "stage" numbers. If you use "getstage" to confirm which stage the game thinks you're on, you can usually use setstage to move yourself to the next one UESP lists out.

For example, here's the page for your book quest[en.uesp.net]. The Bugs section mentions that without the unofficial patch[www.nexusmods.com], the quest marker might be missing if you haven't done the Hail Sithis! quest. The page also shows two possible code names for the quest - MGR20 and MGR20B - and notes that the stage where you're supposed to find the book is 10, and the stage where you're supposed to go back to Urag is 20. Given that, you should be able to figure out the commands to confirm the correct code name, and then the command to skip collection of the book.

The writer's quest is Impatience of a Saint[en.uesp.net]. The Bugs section there makes it pretty clear how to skip that one, if you really think it's necessary - I know of the crashes you're talking about, but haven't personally encountered them. I reckon the unofficial patch is shielding me.

Bear in mind that certain console commands can potentially break your game (especially if you mistype them!) - a good rule of thumb is to save to a new slot before you use them, and keep that save around for at least a few hours afterwards just in case there are any unforeseen consequences that take a while to surface. It's a good idea to keep a backlog of at least ten saves or so anyway, as Skyrim's a game which likes to break without any provocation.

That's actually the wrong book, I reckon - the one for the repeatable book-hunting missions is simply dubbed "Last King of the Ayleids".

"Last King of the Ayleids" - Skall Village in the Greathall.

"The Last King of the Ayleids" - Fellglow Keep Ritual Camber.

Thank you ALL for the information and support. I'll look into this....

EDIT: Okay, I finished the book quest. Thanks for all your help. It was actually "Last King of the Ayleids" not "The Last..." I messed up the spelling. Sorry about that. And it was in Solsteim. I remember now how some books were found on that location, not Skyrim, is why the "show on map" wasn't highlighting in Skyrim. WHen I went to Solsteim, it did highlight, and showed me the location. I only visited that volcanic island now because I recall bugs popping up when I did visit it, affecting Skyrim missions. Now I can continue the book quests. And Urag did accept the book so it's off my hands.

Also, the mission "Impatience of a Saint" is exactly the mission I'm talking about. I recall starting it up then quit because it got frustrating. I was supposed to finish it and that was what was causing the crashes. When I found out I needed to complete it to end the crashing, it worked. And I probably will download that unofficial patch. I'm not that computer savvy, but know a few things. It's just when they go wrong do I sometimes struggle more than others to find solutions.
