"but what about console players?"
Yeah, whatever, we're on pc, why should we care? Also, I know that there are some people out there (myself included) that avoid using the console whatsoever because it "ruins the experience" or something, but using it to solve annoying problems like this one is fine to me (just as using "tcl" when your character gets stuck somewhere).
And about the lack of lore, well, welcome to Skyrim. Most of the characters and quests in this game are very lackluster in backstory, so, nothing new.
I sometimes wonder if they realize that turned off players often times do not buy their future product.
But now for the quest. I looked at wiki for a five minutes, there are some tips for you as a mage:
apparently, he doesn't teleport in another room anymore, thus making your frost thrall more usefull if you lead him outside his room. Conjuration is the best bet for a mage build, if you can summon a dremora lord, they are very effective against him. Even if conjuration isn't your thing, I'd suggest using the Sanguine Rose. Or anything you can summon, really.
Another solution may be leading him to those traps in the dungeon, although I personally am too lazy for that, somebody might find it very helpfull.
He can be easily sneak killed, if you have some perks for sneak attacks, you can consider that.
Lastly, for the lore... I mean, he was chosen by peryite to "shepheard" the afflicted. Makes sense a daedra will make his champion immune and stuff. I never even noticed his immunity as I battled him only as a warrior or battle archer. Also may I ask what difficulty were you fighting him with? And what level? I feel he was a bit more OP for you than he should've been, but it can be only because of the mage build. Hopefully somebody having trouble killing him will find this usefull!
Mages can also sprint in reverse while spamming spells you have to charge up first.
And then there's the various enemies who can slide-step an arrow coming from behind.
Yeah, Skyrim is definitely full of sh*t in a lot of areas.
But they don't want you to be 100% resistant, 100% chameleon, or do 100% damage because that makes you OP. Pfft.
And then there's the totally unexplained Draugr non-Deathlords who can shout. These were low-ranking grunts, not privvy to the same training as Priests and Deathlords, ergo they don't need to be shouting.
They've also got a shorter cooldown than you, according to the CK data.
First things first off, fock-off Lord Canabis (reported you twice!)
Second, i'll have to disagree. No he's still teleports all over the place when he takes one or two hits, i play the latest and greatest version of skyrim (hard not to, game hasn't had an update in a milenia), i also have the latest version of the Unofficial Patch installed.
"Conjururation is the best way", right, conjuration is the only way boy. Even if i could find a trap i don't think he'll ever leave his room (he's scripted to teleport to specific spots in that room), EVEN if he does leave the room, he's mage he does't walk up to you like a "worrior" would so no triggering trap, but let's say he does step on the trap a couple times, he's not your usual enemy that heals once when he's about to die, he constantly heal throught the entire fight. I've read that if you poison a nelee weapon with magic wekness poison you can actually do some damage with spells.
I could got back a gra a random iron sword from the afflicted but it would be worse than my daedric bound sword.
For the sneak kill like you mentioned that would not work either in any difficulty past novice, at least not for me, not having any points in sneak and not actually having a dagger. 3x sneak damage won't cut against orchendor lvl 40 with almost 600 hp, he'll just run and heal rense and repeat.
The problem with the part is the way damage minigation works in skyrim it's percentage based instead of values, he could have a pretty good value, but give 100% means he has god mode, i don't care how much daedric prince ♥♥♥♥ you suck, they will never make you invinceble if they're not invicible themselves. I playing on master difficulty level 53 destruction mage, and yea he has that immunity regardless of your level he scales from lvl 10 to 40 from what i read, so as i was 53 he was obviously at his highest. Like you said you won't even noticed if you're playing as a warrior, guy was toilet paper, if i was a warrior i would have one shoted him even on master and get away without even knowing about his oppenis.
You from the future if you're reading this and can't kill Orchendor just do him dirty through the console "kill" :D
I hate the vanilla combat, it's not fast or dynamic you can't dodge, when you're hitting with a swird, you pretty much a statue stuck on the ground, and it' always the same game hit get hit heal... i use ultimate combate overhaul. A sword fight hast pary, dodging, thrusting, skyrim is just slash slash slash slash. Also mages suck late game, master spells are useless, your spells don't get any stronger, the enchanting mechacinique is broken
Don't even get me stared this is worth a complete new topic of discussion
