Are Steam Mods Safe?
Are the mods for Skyrim on the Steam Workshop safe?

I just worry about downloading a virus.

Just to be cautious, I'm only planning on subscribing to the ones that are really popular. Still though, I'm still a bit hesitant.

Lord Gaben does not like malware. Thousands of gamers have DL'ed and used skyrim mods (myself included). You should be ok.

I'm subscribed to 100 mods, and I have never had a problem.

not supported & buggy as hell, & you need to uninstall them manually which is a pain in the hide,
I still couldn't figure out how to get that sora hollween mod to work.

Yes, they are pretty safe. But if you are worried then always check comments in the specific mod to see if anyone got any trouble.
They won't give you any viruses, malware, or do any permanent damage. You're completely in the clear when it comes to Steam mods, and 99% of Nexus mods as well if you decide to go that route (which most people would recommend).

Stability on the other hand is a seperate issue. If you go overboard with modding and add tons of them then there'll be an increased risk of conflicts and crashes. Don't add too many in one sitting, and if you do indeed get a crash I know there are plenty on these forums willing to help.

It's as safe as actually downloading Skyrim on Steam.

Hey, I was worried about it at first too!
It is safe, I have had upto 30 mods at once and have never had a problem.
I only play with 11 now, but that's just preference :)
ive downloaded a few hundred mods off of nexus and steam. no viruses so far and i dont expect to get one any time soon. i usually play with around 230+ mods and ive been having no issues at all with both my firewall or game

While it is safe from a security point of view, it is strongly suggested that you NOT use it. For complete info regarding this, see this old but still valid thread:

Best option is to use Nexus (also completely safe): https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim

The mods with the most subscriptions are going to be the least buggy of all the mods, but Beautiful Ham Sandwich is right, you could end up with conflicting mods which could cause problems in the game. A lot of it will be trial and error on your part. Be especially careful with multiple follower mods.

Also, before you even start to mod your game, thoroughly read the following and do all that they say you need to do:
