Black Door won't give me "Silence, my brother" option.
Just came from the Abandoned Shack and killed one of the captives. Astrid gives me the passphrase and my journal says my next objective is to proceed to the Black Door near Falkreath and enter the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary. You see, the option to enter is not present in the dialogue options. You won't believe how long I have been trying to fix this problem. I have trouble sleeping now knowing that I won't be able to experience a huge chunk of gameplay in this beautiful game. My quest to fix this glitch has even unfortunately led me to spoiling the questline for myself as I was browsing through similar forums pertaining to this terrible glitch. I guess you won't be able to erase the spoilers from my mind but you may be able to erase this glitch from my thoughts.

If possible, the instructions on how to fix this must be direct and very specific as I just really want to find a solution as quickly as possible. Cheers.

Do you have mods installed?
If you have all dlc:s then you should install Usleep if you dont have it.

What "fix" for the quest have you tried?

Can you quickly give us the result of typing "getstage db02" in the console?

Well, I tried doing the "unlock" console command on the door but to no avail even though I knew it was not going to work. I tried setstage db02 40 which completes the "enter the DB Sanctuary" step in the "With Friends Like These.." quest but the door still asks me the "What is life's music" but "Silence, my brother" is still not an option. I tried "disabling" the door but that just proved to be stupid. I fast-travelled to another hold waited there for a good 24hrs and returned to the sanctuary but, again, to no avail. I tried returning to the Abandoned Shack only to find the 2 remaining captives alive and no Astrid. I tried moveto player <Astrid's ID> so she can come to me and trigger the conversation with her again to see if that refreshes anything but the console just gives me an error (implying that she died? Or that she is in another unknown indoor place which I cannot summon her from? I haven't tried the "resurrect" command yet on her though). I tried killing my follower in front of the door. I tried killing Meeko in front of the door. I tried killing my horse in front of the door. I tried using Flames on the eyes of the skull on the door. I tried hitting the door with an axe. I tried bashing it with my shield. I tried shouting Marked for Death at it which seemed practical at the time and finally, I actually, in real life, tried whispering "Silence, my brother" into my speakers because I was getting hopeless.

Only mods I have installed are:
- Climates of Tamriel Mod
- Static Mesh Improvement Mod
- Apocalypse (Spell Pack)
- Blood Magic

No, I only have base game and no DLCs. Good Luck in finding a solution :)

Sorry mate, nothing.

Have you done the basic thing.
Load old save and try again?
Sadly the old Unoffical patch is taken down. You should have use for that one.
Did you sort your mods whit LOOT?

What did "getstage db02" say to you?
Are you at the door outside Falkreath? Not at the one up in Dawnstar.

The old USKP is unsupported, and it's been removed from steam and nexusmods, but you might still be able to get it from some of the old caches. Search for "USKP 2.1.3b download" or something in your favorite search engine. It might not have the fix for the bug you have (it stands as unconfirmed on uesp, being reported in 2016). I am not at all familiar with modding, but looks like a subscript called DBBlackDoorActivator (0002b83b) should have been called, but didn't?

No. I should have mentioned prior to this but I intentionally did not do the "enter the DB Sanctuary" step for the "With Friends Like These..." quest because I wanted to complete the Thieves Guild Questline first before I enter the Sanctuary. What this means is that the "With Friends Like These.." quest was in my journal untouched for what seems like a whole month. Countless hardsaves and softsaves have been made during that time and I can't afford to restart from a point before again. I forgot to mention too that I also did the whole of the College of Winterhold Questline prior to the Thieves Guild Questline as well. 2 major guild questlines as well as the Main Questline have been completed thus far. This means reloading from an old save is not an option, even though how much I will it to be. Previous saves have been overwritten as well.

As with the Unofficial Patch, this patch requires for me to have the rest of the game's DLCs which I don't have so this option is not one I am able to do.

Sorting my mods with LOOT is sadly useless to me because these mods don't have any effect on in-game areas, only adds better visuals and new spells.

"getstage db02", upon entered, activates normally and in the console is the text that is suppose to appear when entering "getstage db02" but I'm afraid I do not know what it does at the moment.
Any help is appreciated.

I am sure I am not near the Dawnstar Sanctuary. I am near Falkreath in the Pine Forest East of it. Or rather, the door that asks, "What is the music of life?".

Take your time, guys.

Sorry, I can't use the USKP because I lack any of the game's DLCs which this patch requires.
I am assuming though that USKP stands for Unoffical Skyrim Patch, correct? Sorry if I'm incorrect.

"I encountered this issue and tried ssq db02 followed by ForceRefIntoAlias BlackDoorAlias as issued above and it worked perfectly."

Yes this, I've seen this post in the Nexus Mods Forums as one of the places I've visited in my quest to try and fix this glitch but due to my inability to understand this post or this alleged solution myself, I am unable to use this command to its fullest potential. In other words, I don't know if "ForceRefIntoAlias" is a placeholder for an ID or command or an ID or command on its own. Similarly with "BlackDoorAlias" or whatever that is.

What I'm getting at is that I don't know what "ForceRefntoAlias BlackDoorAlias" means and that I don't know how to use it or what it is for. Any help explaining it to me and consequentially solving the glitch for myself is GREATLY appreciated. Forgive my stupidity.

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I don't know what ssq db02 does and the reason as to why it must be followed by "ForceRefIntoAlias BlackDoorAlias".

Go to the door and activate your Console Command system. Move arrow over door and click on the door. Then type the word unlock and hit enter. Exit console command and see if you can enter.

Sorry but I already did that. It's in the list of things I have already done but to no avail. To see the list of things I have done prior, refer to my first reply in this discussion thread.

That door cant be unlocked until he have done some stuff. It is not one normal door.

To explain the idea behind the advice, *ssq db02" = Set the console scope to quest "db02"; the second quest in the Dark Brotherhood quest line. ForceRefIntoAlias allows you to execute a command alias within the scope of the previously selected quest. Of the 6 valid aliases in that scope, one is "BlackDoorAlias", which is an alias for the object DBBlackDoorActivator. Although it did not seem to work for OP, another person with a similar problem got it fixed this way. Give it a try.

Thank you for the advice but still, ForceRefIntoAlias BlackDoorAlias still makes no difference. I suppose mentioning how I came about this conclusion is worth a mention. In the console, I first entered "ssq db02" which, indeed, did set the console scope to the 2nd DB quest. Afterwards, I tried entering in "ForceRefIntoAlias BlackDoorAlias" (<---- exactly like this) into the console and hit enter. The console then just followed by presenting the same text I entered into it which was ForceRefIntoAlias BlackDoorAlias. Then, I tried interacting with the Black Door again but still, no correct dialogue option was to be found.

Based on these things that I have done, as stated previously, can you guys perhaps make comments as to what I did wrong. Hopefully through this, the glitch may be fixed. I really do appreciate that you people are actively trying to help me here. Keep it up.
