Studded Imperial Armor fix?
Love the Studded version of the armor but not sure if there are any currently supported mods that allow me to temper it so that I can keep wearing it throughout my playthrough. The regular version is not as flashy and nice looking. The studs just give it that extra shine that make it look nice.

You can improve it without mods.
Just increase your smithing skill.

no there is a bug that prevents Studded Armor from being upgraded no matter what. It wont even show up at the workbench. I had to see why and it says it over on the official wiki

There's no official wiki. UESP does mention it, and it also notes that the unofficial patch should fix it.

so it must be some sort of mod conflict I'm guessing.

also is that unofficial patch just for the special edtiion? I have the original game with everything except dragonborn.

If you don't have the unofficial patch installed already, then the issue isn't a "mod conflict" - it's just a bug in the base game.

The version of the patch I linked is for users who have the original game with all paid DLC. I'm sorry to say the downloads for users who lack the complete set have been removed.

ah that sucks. But thanks for sharing I'll keep it in mind for when I have the funds. Maybe I'll wait for the fall sale. what sucks even more is I have the complete game on my 360. But I dont like playing without mods anymore. Not that it wasnt fun but you tend to see all the flaws and it just bugs me. Especially now that horses arent pathetically slow and die quick, and my followers actually can follow me off of roads lol, and the mods that make imperial and stormcloak armor better than common crap like leather armor. Honestly.....why would military gear be as weak as it was in vanilla? Never made sense to me.

More bad news: since the release of the Special Edition well over a year ago, Bethesda has hidden the older version of the game from the Steam storefront, and neither it nor its DLCs have gone on sale again since.

You can get Legendary Edition keys around the place, though, from various third-party sellers - often for less than the individual DLCs sell for.

In any case, here's a mod you should be able to use with your current install, which contains a single fix just for the studded armour:
