Eye colour and possible backstory
It's been many years since I've played and just got back into things. Messing around with game settings, mods and ini files, all that good stuff. But something got my attention was the selection of eye colours. There's 3 types in all races, including altmers, that have either 1 or both eyes with white pupils. I originally thought that makes them blind for RP purposes. But while reading up comments on how to tweak INI files, I learned about Maormers or 'fish elves' and how they're a race that's eternally pursecuted by Altmer/Thalmors. One of their traits include white eyes.

Could this be the real reason the altmer dragonborns are chased out of Cyridil? Possibly a love child born from some unknown fish elf bandit and altmer peasant?

If that's what you want to make your personal backstory, sure.
I think those are supposed to be blind eyes, but your theory is interesting......

Think your missing some key features in altmer culture. they live for perfection, killing/exiling anything thats not up to standard. Also they believe that the 8 devines are thier literal ancestors. The end game for the altmer race (mainsteam thalmor) it to end creation to free the devine spark and be one as gods/ancestors again. (dwemmer might have done this thou since they are an sub cast of elfs.) Maormers are outcast from these ideals and likely as the bosmer/woodelfs where transformed by their new habitats (maybe with help of a deadric prince).

the reason for the thalmor to hate the dragon born is that the dragon born can stop the alduin. He or she can stop the end of creation.

but on the other end the elderscrolls are so open to interpertation and inspiration that you can play as anything you like with whatever backstory you like.

Well, that's basically the same as what I've read so far (and rememberd from my last complete playthrough). Altmer's being a nasty bunch. Some war happened and alot of people displaced as refugees. I just tickles me that the guards in all holds might have some wisdom in what they say. The dragonborn could of been anyone or race. Even races on the other side of tamriel.

TES has such a rich lore, it kinda makes me wonder what other races are out there that wasn't included in skyrim/oblivion. I haven't played the older titles.

i remeber the amazement with the morrowind main quest line. (its en epic one, recoment a good play or read trou)
ad one point azura explains that you are the main hero of the prophecy and it will spawn a host of predecessers that turns out big mix or races and genders. it was pritty cool to see even kajits and argonians (that mosly are shown as slaves in morrowind) to be the Nerevarine
