How do I get salmon roe?

The salmon are invincible, I am hitting them with flames spell and they just ignore it and even if they die, they don't drop it, I have Heartfire dlc

find a river with a waterfall part even a small one will do, if you see jumping salmon catch those and you get the roe

an easyish area is Honningbrew Meadery just outside white run, there's a stream behind this were you'll see em' jump up river
