Random horse following me
Hi, so I just arrived at Ivarstead yesterday while going to the Greybeards, and to my surprise I found a black horse at a stable. The reason this was surprising is because when I walked up to it, it just said "Ride". Didn't say "Steal" or anything else. It also looks exactly the same as the horse you can buy at the Whiterun Stables.

I got onto it, thinking Talos has given me a free horse, then when I dismounted it, it went straight back to its stable. I left it there, cause I don't wanna be on a horse that I'll have to chase down every time I get off it.

Now, for some reason that same horse is teleporting to me whenever I fast travel near Whiterun or Ivarstead.

To be specific, it always appears right in front of my face, when I fast travel to Ivarstead. And just now I fast travelled to the Western Watchtower at Whiterun, to go do a quest somewhere nearby.

After some poor luck, and discovering that both a Giant and a Dragon have spawned at the tower, and were attacking a bunch of guards, I saw that horse just standing by the tower, where I initially spawned before walking to the road. The way I noticed it, is because the dragon landed right next to it, and as it was running away, the dragon launched a gigantic ice shard from its mouth at it.

Also, there was a seemingly mentally challenged elk or deer, that was just standing there, even when the dragon was attacking it. I one shot it with a bow, and suddenly all the guards were attacking me. I go back to the last save I made, and fast travelled back to the tower. And long behold the horse is right beside me.

I don't want that ♥♥♥♥ing horse. It's annoying and I want it to stay in Ivarstead where it originally spawned. What can I do, and why the hell is this happening?

I'm also thinking maybe the guards started attacking me, cause before kiling the deer/elk, I also accidentally may have hit the horse (I honestly don't know. There was dragon frost in my face).

Unfortunately....

Talos can give you a free horse, and this horse since you have ridden it is now officially your horse. Its a case of Marry had a little lamb, except it happens to be a half ton beast.
Just to be clear, this is now your horse and its not uncommon at all there are at times unowned horses in the default game that appear in random encounters.

So how do owned horses work?
Well the horse will act a lot like a follower, it'll follow you everywhere, and it'll turn hostile attacking your enemies. It will teleport to any map location you tavel to.

Hostile guards in the default game can happen for all sorts of bizzare reasons. You accidentally murdered a chicken? Your now a wanted man. A dog saw you steal a potatoe? The dog counts as an eye witness to a serious crime. Things got hectic in combat accidentally hit an ally 4 times in combat withen a 10 second period of time, Ouch they are now hostile and you commited a crime. Casted flame at a guy in combat but a guard blocked your LOS and got hit, Ouch you have attacked a guard.
There are a huge amount of bizarre eye witnesses that will report you for crimes in the default game, such as some followers, horses, chickans, dogs, deer, rabits, basically everything that is not lawful evil will report you for a crime.
Shout in any area such as a town twice and the guards will attack you.

There are a number of ways to remove an owned horse.
1) take your horse into battle against a dragon, pretty entertaining when the horse dies tanking for you.
2) take your horse out to a secluded area and kill it.
3) console commands, ~ and then type Kill hit enter.

There are a lot of mods that handle horses but I find these are mostly not worth using, just dont even ride a horse once...Spell mods that temporarily add horses are way more agreeable cause you can put away the horse when you dont want it following you everywhere in the world.
Dawnguard DLC does happen to award a nice spell summoned horse that I happen to like a lot.

For bizarre creatures reporting crime you can find a lot of options on Nexus to fix.
For Followers I happen to use Amazing Follower Tweaks.

Well the horse did start attacking the dragon, which I found odd until reading this.

Though it walks away still, even when I'm on the other end of the map (in relation to Ivarstead) and dismount it. Is there a mod to stop it walking away?

I don't really mind stuff like animals and followers telling on me, because the only crimes I'm planning on commiting, are sneaking into someone's house and stealing stuff. But the horse walking away is the real deal breaker for me. If there isn't a mod to stop that from happening, I will have to lead it into a forest, or feed it to a dragon.
