How can I deal with being over-encumbered?
I've been having this problem for a while now and I haven't been able to figure out why. I pretty much have nothing but soul gems and the equipment I use, yet I still have to wear enchanted gear with fortify carryweight to walk around. Just now, it finally occured to me what my problem is: I don't have the conditioning perk, which means that my armor (which is ebony) is adding to the weight I'm carrying, and that (along with those three stupid elder scrolls you can't remove from your inventory) is what's weighing me down.

I don't really know what I can do to fix this. I mean, seriously, I can't even wear my full armor set because I have to put fortify carry weight on so many things! And having a necromancer theme, I'm walking around with the ritual stone. So, I can't take the steed stone (without violating my character's theme anyway) and I can't even wear my full armor set without fortify carryweight enchantments, I really don't know what else I can do. The only thing I can think of is re-level some skill so I can get more stamina points, but that probably wouldn't help much. I mean, I'm walking around with 300 lbs of stuff! And I can't remove anything else without having to leave an equipment slot open (yes, its that bad).

If you want to know what my equipment is, its a set of ebony without the helmet, the jagged crown, a dragonbone greatsword, an enchanted ring and necklace, those damned elder scrolls, and some soul gems, that's it.

Try improving your stamina count when you level up, that increases carry weight
Why is your necromancer a tank? That doesn't fit the theme either.

I'd suggest mods, bags and bandoliers or similar. Try a companion to cart your loot...Lydia keeps telling you she'll bear your burdens.
As to the Elder Scrolls, they are considered quest items, and do not add to your weight in inventory.
From http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Elder_Scroll :
"Each scroll has a weight of 20, but they are always quest items and weigh nothing in your inventory."
Funny enough, I killed Lydia early on because she suddenly decided to turn on me for no reason, and would never calm down. And if you must know my theme, I'm doing a deathknight build by some guy called 'masterquest gaming' on youtube. Its based on the deathknights from D&D. Essentially, its a warrior with necromancy skills. And honestly, it works quite well (minus the reliance on frost magic anyway, but that's only really an issue if you're fighting a frost dragon).
So your overburdened by 52 pounds of Armor.
Cause thats what it weighs for Chest, Boots, and Gloves made of Ebony.

The Elder Scrolls actually weigh nothing, plus you can off load them even without mods there is a guy you can sell them too...Plus I think there are other oppertunities however they dont weigh anything.

The you have a two hander...Probably 20 pounds.

So 72 pounds of gear.

Soul Gems dont actually weigh a lot, even Grand Soul gems dont weigh much.
So there is no reason to actually carry a whole lot of these around...Especially since you can just get perks in Enchanting so that your use of gems is better.

So my guess is that its food and potions.
Also you didnt put points into Stamina as part of your build...Thats silly. Every level thats like 10 more carry weight right there, 10 levels of that and its no longer an issue.

If Lydia is dead I guess its an unmodded game, I'd say your missing out.

It'd be a lot easier being a Necromancer with Ordinator.
Lydia makes a nice waifu with Amorous Adventures plus SBF all in One.
Throw in AFT, Amazing Follower Tweaks and make Lydia carry your burdens.

Put in RDO and make the dialogue more interesting,
Then put Guard Dialogue Overhaul then the Guards in towns actually dont act like your some kind of no buddy, its more interesting.

Oh wait how to solve your problem...Stop carrying around so much stuff.
If you had say....
MCM menu you would have a better idea of just how much stuff you were actually karting around.

Its time for you to buy a house, you know the one that potential marraige partners would want you to have...I guess Breezehome is out of the question now...

The Harthfire Homes are not so bad.

If you want to be a bad guy though....
Rayeks Rest, is a good hole in the ground for dark characters.

Then there is
Dark Citadel
More like a Dark Lord theme, but without the goblins.
I think the Unofficial patch lets you sell the scrolls to the orc at the college. There's also a neat mod I think called Skyrim Community Uncapper that lets you uncap skills and also alter how much health/magicka/stamina/perks you gain from levels, and even different amounts of each after a certain threshold. You can also set carry weight to increase with health and/or magicka.
An easy test is go to a chest in your house and put every into it ... absolutely everything then open your inventory and check your carry weight.
What is it? ... It should be close to zero. Id so that's good and just follow advice on raising stamina to gain more carryweight.

if not close to zero weight
Then go into third person open console click on your characters face, you should see 0000014 highlighted as that is your character. ( if not then use tfc enter close console to move closer until you do get 0000014 showing.

then with console open type in
showinventory enter

That should show you a list of all items including all quest item (like the elder scrolls) that you cannot get rid of.

Let us know if you have a list of items that are giving you weight whilst not carrying anything
I do own a home (in fact, I have all three hearthfire homes). So yes, I have places to unload my stuff. I'm just walking around with the bare essentials.

Unloading all my stuff into a chest, I end up with a weight of 0. I still have no clue where that's coming from. I didn't have to unload that much to empty my inventory of everything that wasn't a quest item. As I said, all I'm carrying around is a dragonbone greatsword, auriel's bow with ammo (I'm a vampire lord), the jagged crown, ebony armor, gauntlets, and boots, and some soul gems (including the black star). That's it. And I certainly don't have 200 lbs worth of soul gems in my inventory. I probably only have around 40-50 at most (which would equate to a weight of 4-5). Hard to count them though since most of them are filled (my sword has soul trap on it).
Barring any active effect that would reduce your character's carry weight (and which you would be aware of anyway by checkng the active effects menu), the only thing that comes immediately to mind would be an item in your inventory that has the effect of reducing your carry weight.

Of course, there are things like console commands, but you would obviously know if that was the case since you would have had to actually use a command, so that would not be very likely.
For the record, I'm quite experienced with console commands. I actually spawned in a chest for me to use for my experiment. I also use console commands A LOT in bug testing, and that includes testing npcs' inventories. Oh, and my max carry weight is 380 without enchantments (I'm level 52).

If you are experienced with console commands, then why not try "player.setav carryweight (number)". ?

Problem solved, or use mods.
You talk about the soul gems... Having reduced your carry weight to 0, pick up your soul gems and ONLY your soul gems, to see just how much they really weigh. I was amazed at how much weight I was carrying in soul gems that I was most likely never going to use much. Potions ditto: an individual potion may not look like much at 0.3 lb, but if you're carrying a couple of hundred potions and 40-50 scrolls AND have no Conditioning for your heavy armour AND end up carrying about 50 of each type of soul gem filled and unfilled, it's amazing how it all adds up.

And yes, wearing the heaviest of heavy armour (the Ebony set is a whole lot heavier than simply Iron or Steel) without Conditioning is a huge handicap, especially if you have levelled up high but neglected to include Stamina in your build. A dragonbone greatsword is one of the heaviest swords you can have, too.
I've discovered my character was carrying around almost 90 lbs. of ingredients and leather.
Usually by level 50 or so I have a container full of excess potions from dungeons.
A cheap and easy way to level up armor skills it to let a mudcrab or skeever beat up on you for awhile.

Don't carry around leather, it's easy enough to buy it, and you only use it to improve or craft stuff. Wait until you are crafting and buy it then.

Use ingredients, get the lists so you know what their properties are, and craft potions, which A) gets you money when you sell and B) improves your alchemy skill.

Oh and get rid of food, there are only a handful of useful meals, and you can duplicate them with potions which weigh less.

It's usually leather from kills. I try to stockpile crafting materials and just create as much as I can when I'm at a stopping point. If I don't have any immediate plans for it, I make leather strips if I get the chance.

A lot of times after not going to a home for awhile, it's easy to forget the ingredients because they don't show up if you're selling to a smith until Speech levels up. Same with soul gems. Some weigh 1/3 or 1/2 lb and the higher the Enchantment and Destruction skills, the fewer you use.for recharging weapons.

I sometimes lose track of what I was doing or get sidetracked if I fast travel back to a home instead of the nearest merchant.

Food adds up too since I never remember to use the items since potions are more efficient.
Some food ingredients weigh a couple of pounds or more. I now try to only take ingredients or fish that can be used for alchemy. But NPCs tend to carry food. I usually just take everything and sort it out later, especially in some combat situations where the bodies disappear before you can loot them.

And who can pass up free ale?

I usually increase stamina and take perks for heavy armor and combat skills before anything else, but with heavy armor from plate or Nordic on up and a stash of potions, it's hard to get below 180 lbs .
