Mod suggestions for pure mage playthrough?

Looking for suggestions for mods I can add for a purely magic based combat playthrough. I've tried to do this a couple of times, but inevitably seem to end up slowly becoming a warrior and then eventually becoming an archer later in the game as magic becomes increasingly weak.

Awakened Magicka is something you should definitely check out.

It's an magic overhaul mod for better mage gameplay. It combines all the great features from other magic overhaul mods such as Better Magic.

It's a great overhaul for pure mage, because you actually get spell cost reduction benefits from not wearing any armors. Kinda like back in Oblivion.

One of the best feature is that now you can set NPCs get the benefits from all the changed enchantments as well. You actually make your mage follower stronger, like you do with warrior followers.

And all these settings are can be modified in MCM. The author paid close attention to any script lag and errors and you don't have to worry about all that.

Overall I think it's the best magic overhaul mod by far. If you like all the vanilla spells but just want some 'fair' treatment like all the other combat skills, this is what you want.

i had the same problem as you with trying to do full mage builds. best combo i found was, "amazing race tweaks: high elf" and "apocalypse magic of skyrim". adds way more spells to the game and makes leveling magic skills slightly less tedious. no more hurting and healing your horse at the same time just to level them up.
