HOW TO START PURITY OF REVENGE?!?!?!?!?!?

I have completed "Blood's Honor" for the companions, but the next quest, "Purity of Revenge," will not trigger. No, I have not received the quest to get the helm of winterhold and I have not cleared driftshade refuge or even discovered it yet. None of the causes for this glitch I've found online apply to me, and none of the solutions work besides skipping the whole Purity of Revenge quest with console commands, which just ♥♥♥♥♥ up some of the companions and makes the questline just less fun. Does anybody know how to just get Vilkas to give me the quest? He's not in busy mode or anything. Also, I have no saves left from before the completion of Bloods Honor.

The eternal mourning problem was caused by the mod called "drop everything" for some ungodly reason. I deleted the mod and problem was resolved.
