How do you know install/priority order if the mod page(s) don't list it?
I installed all of mine randomly and I'm pretty sure that's the (main) reason my game's so messed up.

I also highly recommend Ilja's modding and resource guide in the sticky post at the top of this forum.

Does it conflict with cfs111's?

No, that's the first place CFS would send you. AND that's the fastest way to reach us if there's a problem.

What's the difference between load order and sort order? I'm probably asking because I've only used NMM so far.

READ THE DARN GUIDE ALREADY :) LOL, Loot sorts, you load.

In Mod Organizer, the left pane window shows you the order in which mod resources take precedence over one another -- the order in which resources are prioritized. This differs from the right pane, which shows the order in which the plugins are loaded when the game starts. I may not be using standard phraseology when I say load and sort order, the terms are a bit squishy. Both panes actually do represent a load order, but the right pane shows the plugin load order, the left pane shows the mod load order and which resources within each mod that take precedence.

I don't know how to do anything similar in NMM, sorry.

What's a profile? I have to ask a lot of questions because I'm a n00b (obviously).

it's Ok Tabqwerty, We'll never pick on you for learning around here. But most of what your asking is WHY I recommended you read the guide... come back and ask after you've actually read it please.

Gopher has an excellent series of YouTube video instructions on Mod Organizer. View them all, in order, to get a really good understanding of how Mod Organizer works.

Profiles have been introduced in NMM, but it would take too long to detail here what they really are and how they're used.

Start here, and really do view them all... you may need to replay some of them several times to fully understand what they're telling you but these videos are priceless.

Give yourself some time to absorb the information lol. It's a lot to take in in a short time

Tangential question: Would the same guide/s work with Oblivion and Morrowind, as well? There's less support for those (I hope I'm not looking over any existing information for them, I just wouldn't know where to look for it).

I just don't want to spend *all* of my time on gaming stuff. I'm already living at home in my late twenties.

Yep. Best practices haven't changed. Only specific details ;)
