Problem escorting esbern.

So I just got to the point where they needed me to escort esbern outta riften to riverwood, then I just fast traveled to riverwood. Ive waited four ingame days and he is still not here at riverwood. Please help im on the verge of suicide

So don't fast travel ... go to a previous save and actually escort him. Let him see your incredible powers first hand and witness his spells ... he can look after himself.

However I think the unofficial patches have mucked up Esbern and Delphine following. So I do recommend slow travelling with Esbern I don't recommend it with Delphine + Esbern.
Because once Delphine is with you she continuosly checks to see if he is following which is like a scripted event that she does every 5 - 10 seconds. So he then stops because she has until they just both stop.

He shouldn't have to do that. I escorted him to a small farm just outside Riften before saying "♥♥♥♥ this" and fast travelling to Riverwood. I then waited just one in-game day, walked inside the inn, and there he was.

Solution, dont use fasttravel never. it mess things up.

I walk out of the Rat way far enough so that Esbern stops just outside the entrance.
Then I fast travel to Riverwood. It has never failed me. He is always at my side when
I appear in Riverwood.

If Esbern is not all the way out he will not fast travel.

i am having a problem with him when i am escorting esbern through the ratway he will stop at a corner in the hallway so i have to use my shout to get him unstuck

For me Esbern got stuck in the middle of the Ratway. I told him to wait there and for good measure I let him taste my full Unrelenting Force. The fusrodah must've knocked some sense into him because after he picked himelf up off the floor and I asked him to follow me again he was good as new.
