Nexus Mod Manager cannot find the path specified
So, I downloaded skyrim today and saw that when I open the game it opens in a very small window that I cannot change, so I looked up how to fix this and found that I needed to download OneTweak [www.nexusmods.com] but then decided that I should download the Nexus Mod Manager [www.nexusmods.com] but when I open the installer for NMM an error message has showed up saying "The System cannot find the path specified" and I have looked everywhere and there has been no solution to this problem.

Run NMM in all default positions
Make sure you have your skyrim in its default install C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim
run nmm in admin mode

cant help you on the one tweak. I dont use it.

I checked and skyrim is installed in C:\program files(86x)\Steam\steamapps\skyrim and I ran the NMM installer as admin but it still shows the error mentioned above

Did you run Skyrim prior to adding mods, in default mode?
it should have generated a .ini file to your data in skyrim
Run your skyrim and let it go as far as the main menu.
then exit and try to access your NMM.. you may have to uninstall and reinstall it. ( nmm )

Ok I unsubbed from all of the workshop mods I had, the game opened in small window(as always) I checked the NMM installer with the game still open, nmm still shows the error, with the game still running I uninstalled the NMM installer and went to the download page [www.nexusmods.com] , downloaded NMM with the game open, I opened the installer, and the error still showed up.

I also closed the game and tried again and the error showed up again. Should I change anything in Documents>My Games>Skyrim?

no.. documents my games / skyrim is save files.
you installed NMM while running skyrim? Then uninstalled it with skyrim running?

umm.. you need to not have any programs running when installing.. or uninstalling. any program.

you need to have skyrim shutdown completely.
uninstall nmm
still leaving skyrim not running reinstall nmm.

step by step.
shut down skyrim
uninstall nmm.
try to start skyrim normal. go as far as the main menu. exit.
leave skyrim shutdown.
install nmm

should be able to run nmm and start skyrim with no problems.. as long as you have added mods correctly and have the requirements.. but dont add or take out mods with game running either.. it doesnt work that way.

Ahh, just a miscommunication, I just uninstalled NMM, opened skyrim, went on the main menu and then closed skyrim but the NMM installer still shows the error.

Do you have a skyrim.ini file in documents/my games/Skyrim. You need this file for NMM to find Skyrim. If you launch Skyrim in the Steam launcher it should check your graphics and decide what level; Ultra, high, etcetra you can run. Doing this creates the ini and prefs ini file in documents/my game/Skyrim. After this you can quit the game and run NMMs rescan and it should find your game. Without the skyrim.ini file NMM will not be able to locate Skyrim.

Here [imgur.com] is a screenshot of the Skyrim folder in documents, I'm not sure if they are .ini files or not, I have tried setting Bfullscreen to 1 in SkyrimPrefs but that doesn't do anything that I can tell
