Dragons attack EVERYTHING except me!
I have been playing Skyrim with a variety of mods lately, including the Dragon Combat Overhaul and Chaos Dragons. However, harming them is now almost impossible, not because the battles are too hard, but because the dragons won't go anywhere near me. They're far too busy attacking everything else in sight!

Every time a dragon becomes aggressive, it now attacks every single creature it can detect, except me. The dragon will rarely attack me, but only if there are ABSOLUTLY NO OTHER CREATURES IN RANGE! If I have a companion, the dragon prioritizes them over me, and other creatures over my companion.

This means that in order to fight a dragon, I have to chase it across half of Skyrim just to get it within bow range. Only when it has killed every single bandit, sorcerer, animal, guard, villager, giant, undead, mudcrab and other miscellaneous creatures in the area will it turn its attention to me, and this is getting incredibly frustrating. If there are any essential characters in the area, it may never attack me at all.

Does anyone know a way of fixing this?

That doesn't sound unusual at all, that's pretty much how it's always been for me. I don't think there's anything that can be done about it frankly. Other than try to be in a place where a dragon won't get distracted if you think you might be overdue for an attack. Like that watchtower where you kill your first dragon. It should focus on the guards in the area and not wander off going after other targets instead.

Uninstall the dragon mods...

That's how it works without mods

Yes, it has nothing to do with any mods, dragons just happen to be easily distracted. They'll just attack anything that they come across.

Why would you want it fixed? The dragon is giving you free hits while it's busy not attacking you. Hell, I had a dragon fight a mammoth in early game. Mammoth won while I watched. Free soul.

So they've learned. If you can't destroy your enemy, destroy his heart.

... Or, If you can't defeat your enemy, confuse the ♥♥♥♥ out of him.

Actually, I can't get any hits in at all, since all of the dragon's targets are so far away from me. If I get close, the dragon changes targets and flies off into the distance. Again.

It is rare for the dragon to target anything that can hurt it significantly, and when it does and something else kills it, that denies me the fun of the battle.

Dragons can be confusing sometimes.
But do you have the plugins in this order?
---Dragon Combat Overhaul
---Ultimate Dragons

And you should have installed them in that order to.

I don't actually use Ultimate Dragons. I use Dragon Combat Overhaul, Deadly Dragons and Chaos Dragons. Chaos Dragons is loaded first and DCO last.

Deadly Dragons adds a power called "Dragonborn Provocation", which forces the nearest dragon beyond a certain distance to target only you. However, the power only works until the dragon gets fairly close, at which point it immediately chooses a new target, usually flying away before you can get more than a single spell or bow shot at it.

---Ultimate Dragons (This load order is first.)

*Incompatible

You need to remove some of your dragon mods, you should not use several mods that do the same or similar changes.
Grey Dragon Dec 15, 2016 @ 1:44pm
Dragons do occasionally target me first and there are no other signs that any of the mods are malfunctioning, so I guess all I can do is wait for someone to come up with a mod which forces dragons to attack the Draonborn.

You use Chaos Dragons that mod is incompatible whit Dragon Combat Overhaul.
You must remove one of them.
